The Ace of Base-sound of the album version sounds uninspired to me compared to the harsh synth of the demo Honestly I think the synths are too crunchy on the demo. I prefer the smoothness of the album version We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I honestly mostly agree with this aside from the vocals on the first verse of Aura. We have forgotten our public MANNERS

calpky 337
The demo/first version of "Thunder" was supposed to be on her scrapped collaboration album with The Last Shadow Puppets, along with songs "Dealer" and "California". The Blue Banisters version added strings that ruined the vibe of the song for me. Would love to hear the entire scrapped album!

My main criticism. I got goosebumps and teary-eyed the first time I heard FW demo, THIS is the sound I've been waiting for from ha. Then the album version came with that anticlimactic build up and missing chorus. The first time I heard the ROM demo and Latrice Royale vocals but the production slays my existence

I absolutely agree as I trust the artist's vision and if they felt like changing some things for the final product it is how they intended the song to heard be like after all. BUT… In cases like ARTPOP where the label and manager step in to tell the artist to change things to make the final product more marketable and trendy I prefer the demos over something that doesn't fully represent their vision. StrawberryBlond 14,820
There's only one correct answer to this question: The best demo out of the proposed 3 and if anything, it sounds more professional than the official version. This one has so much more punch and energy and the quickened pace of the lyrics give a real sense of urgency. The album's lyrics booklet even contain the original lyrics of "we don't give a what" which sounds so much better than "come on take a shot," the outro lyrics of "this is what makes us girls now baby, that's why we rule the world now baby, oh, baby oh, baby oh" is sublime and the instrumental outro is so majestic yet sad. So, why was this clearly sublime version not made official? My only guesses are that it sounded too upbeat in contrast to the rest of the album and needed to be more cohesive and the bit about girls ruling the world was too similar to Beyonce's Run The World (Girls) which had been released just the year before. But ultimately not valid enough reasons in my book. Don't get me wrong, I love the official one, but once I heard this, there was no going back. It's like ice cream without chocolate sauce on top. Delicious and all, but you know it could be even better.
