ex-Sugababe sues Disney for £200k over voice damage caused by singing

Former Sugababe Jade Ewen is suing Walt Disney for over £200,000, claiming she damaged her vocal cords trying to be heard over her 'very loud' co-star while playing Princess Jasmine in the West End musical Aladdin.

She has accused her co-star Matthew Croke of finding it difficult to “maintain harmony” when they were singing songs and claims he resorted to singing at louder volumes in order to only hear his own voice.

She claims this led to her being drowned out on stage, meaning she had to sing with a dangerously raised voice.

Jade Ewen says her complaints to show bosses were ignored, she had to spend complete days in silence to preserve her “hoarse” vocals .

She was later diagnosed with vocal cord lesions and a vascular polyp and, although treatment fixed the problems, she claims to continue to suffer from career-damaging anxiety.

She is now suing the Walt Disney Company for more than £200,000 compensation at Central London County Court, claiming the injury led to her foregoing offers of lucrative West End work.

Her voice wasn't similar to Keisha, nor did she sound as interesting as any of the other members imo. But tbf, vocally she was probably one of the strongest. Though she is still my least fav.
