I think Chromatica was somewhat spontaneous too. For sure sonically. From 2017 - the first half of 2019, I think the priority was completing ASIB and L4S. The second half of 2019 is when they really kicked in the gears on Chromatica. We’d get pics of them in her studio like every week. That was when Blood and Gag met BURNS, who I think is semi responsible for the overall house sound.

It's time for a visual pop album with the proper era we deserve since 2013 :laughga:

I think there are times when a pop album with a massive pre-planned PR strategy works (Born this Way). This leads to an iconic global era. But the GP doesn’t want that from an artist every era, because they start to feel like the artist is being shoved down their throat. It’s kind of a one-and-done imperial era that can’t be replicated and makes all future albums look like a failure. When an album is low key marketed but actually GOOD and can grow organically, I think that’s the best. It doesn’t come off as “trying too hard.” I think Folklore and Thank U Next are good examples of this. Gaga is a superstar, and at this point I want her art to speak for itself.

I think Gaga is about to reach an age in her life where she's gonna be more chill about the things she does. The Fame through ARTPOP were like hell years to her and she worked so hard during that with recording, tour, promo, etc. that now with Joanne, the jazz albums, soundtrack and Chromatica she's starting to let things flow in a more pacific way that allows her mental health to get the rest it needs.

We're also in the age of not so physical albums and even DJWS said that the industry is changing and you don't need to invest so much to put out an album now. Like he hinted that if she wants, she could just release ARTPOP Act 2 and would not be as expensive to make as the first one was back in 2013.

I mean so far all of her albums have been good whether she makes them in 6 months or takes 2 years to decide what to do with them. She has never really taken a LONG break between eras so I'm happy with the way she's doing things now.

Burns started working with Gaga in January 2019. And Stupid Love was first created in 2017, and songs like Free Woman and Rain On Me were already developing in 2018 when she worked with Boys Noize (think the Rain On Me demo). I think around a year before the release about half the songs were already there, which is much more than what Joanne had. Not to mention Bobby (or was it Gaga?) said planning the album took years. I think it just seems quicker because the process was different, how they added new producers to songs as time went on.

I think it's important to have a new Joanne album, and let me explain to you why:

1. Joanne is Gaga's most serious album. While albums like The Fame and ARTPOP are only about sex and alcohol, Joanne has a deep content related to Gaga's relationship with her family. She created this work around a real struggle and made a personal work.

2. Lyrically and musically, it's her strongest one. Gaga was very commited with this one, and that allowed her to write down some poetry that would later become an album. It's very real and very close to her heart. Mark Ronson and Bloodpop did wonders.

3. It's the one that showcased Gaga's vocal talents to the GP. Even if we already knew the voice that she has, the GP (who are always late and ignorant) didn't know she could sing until this one. So she, once again, took advantage of the situation to prove her point and make a statement about her talents once and for all.

I don't know if the answer to the OP is yes or no.

But what I will say is that I really wish Gaga would have a fully planned out and cemented era before anything comes out. All singles, mv, appearances, performances, etc 100% scheduled and ready to go once the era starts. Over the years, she's one of the only artists I follow that has such an issue with scrapped songs, videos, projects, performances, etc. I really thought Chromatica was finally going to be THAT ERA, but once again we entered ARTPOP territory :samanthac:

So basically I just want the good sis to make a plan and stick to it. Mvs shot before the era starts. I also reallllllllly miss her long, conceptual mvs.

No. I'd rather have no era than a bad one honestly, Joanne brought me sooo close to unstanning.
