Isn’t Kesha still under Luke’s label? And he weirdly, disgustingly, gets royalties from any new music she puts out? And if so, should we stop listening to Kesha to stop supporting Luke?

Such a messed up situation.

in any case that's different than somebody actively working with him and still promoting his name willingly

Doja will most likely pack up and move from his label to another once her 5 album deal is done (and she wants it done as soon as possible as some of yall might be aware), anyways before you decide to stop listening to an artist investigate a little bit.

i'll believe when i see it, meanwhile her latest album is filled with his producing credits. she's a wildly known pop artist, she doesn't need more support.

I will never stream a song by Kim Petras so long as I live. She made it very clear back when this was happening that she did not believe Kesha. If you've forgotten, here's your reminder.

Don't stream her new music. Just don't.

Healed My Heart

Thank you for this.

For anyone wondering "where does it stop" if we refuse to support Kim Petras, this is my personal take: I think it's way more important to boycott Luke's current releases (like Kim Petras) than the older stuff.

I try not to listen to anything other than Kesha that benefits him, but ultimately, consumers aren't going to be able to make this man any less rich at this point. He has been around for so long and I'm sure made SO much money that he will never want for anything, even if he never earned another penny. He also has teams of songwriters that work for him, so even if he isn't directly credited on a song, there's a possibility he still gets paid for it. It just isn't realistic to expect people to be able to know every single song that benefits him and avoid them.

What I do think we as consumers can hurt is his ego and possibly his future opportunities in the industry. His reputation has already benefitted from his past success and no one will suddenly say he's washed up if Katy's old streams dip. But to deny him new success, with his current projects, is far more impactful in this sense.

By giving him success through supporting his artists, it is going to make more people like Kim be open to working with him. But enough consumer pressure, if enough people actually cared, could potentially stop him from getting new business if everyone knows working with him will make their music tank.

Just my opinion, and why I will never listen to Kim.

i believe in Kesha and i dont know about Katy but Doja is definitely not the one to be blamed in this situation, she signed her record deal at 17 i believe BEFORE any of this stuff about kesha came out, not to mention she's denounced Dr Luke as much as she possibly can considering she still is under his label, also lets not forget that he stole producing and writing credits on half of Planet Her, credits that should have gone to Doja.

Doja will most likely pack up and move from his label to another once her 5 album deal is done (and she wants it done as soon as possible as some of yall might be aware), anyways before you decide to stop listening to an artist investigate a little bit.

I didn't blame Doja... I used her SONGS as an example and I'm not planning to stop listening to anyone. at least not for now.

He stole credits?

I listen to a lot of different artists but I still like teenage dream, doja's old music, kesha's old songs, etc. I'm not complaining btw, I'm just being honest, I feel like a lot of people feel the same way I do u.u.

I still think that its very weird when any artist is still willing to work with that pig

i guess i don't have to worry about that fortunately, i find teenage dream incredibly annoying and stupid i wanna vomit, much more knowing that is produced by that pig, i hate that kind of bubblegum pop, i think that's one of the most overrated pop albums ever, same thing with doja's music nothing special AT ALL imo.

I really got into Doja once I saw her Grammy performance. And I think she blends pop and rap really well, while modernizing 80s and 90s beats. On top of that she's funny and relates well to the younger generation, especially with some of her "dumber" music. Plus you can tell she works hard, I'm not sure there's quite anybody like her at the moment (kinda reminds me of Gaga in this way, along a few others). But I understand that you might not relate to those things and people look for different things in her music.

I’d hate to play the devil’s advocate here, but wasn’t the lawsuit dismissed because it was proven Kesha made false declarations to Gaga? Seems like Kesha is the one who dragged Gaga into this. The fact they haven’t publicly interacted with each other the past few years is a bit suspect.

yeah Kim drop naming Gaga in a Dr Luke produced track is a little tone deaf, that's all i'm going to say.

It’s more than tone-deaf, it’s cruel.

Kesha was misled as well. Someone had told her Luke assaulted Katy and she was talking to Gaga about that. So the info was false, but Kesha didn't make it up.

I think after everything Gaga went through it makes sense she doesn't talk about it publicly anymore.

Isn't this also up in the air because it could be they Katy just didn't want to come forward?

It's possible, but Katy was also deposed about it (or questioned on the stand? I can't remember) and said it didn't happen. So she could be lying under oath, but I take her word for it
