beli8 1,467
I've lived in a red state (somewhat rural surroundings) for 12 years and havent had any issues either. Of course it is disheartening to see any oppression / steps backwards in any state or country, towards any person or group. One person's experience doesnt negate another's different experience and I really dont think anyone is trying to do that here. We're all just discussing and debating things, and sometimes that results in disagreements (especially with the vast ranges of generations and cultures in this community). Everyone's personal experiences and opinions are valid, and some just express them more vocally and abruptly than others. Virtual hugs for all lol. Really? I went to school here too and I was taught early about sex and I feel like it was adequate. I think the earliest was 4th or 5th grade and a lesson on puberty. They even gave everyone free deodorant Then in middle school the actual biology of sex and baby making was taught. In high school, there were multiple lessons across several classes about sex and relationships, even things like consent, peer pressure, and date rape drugs. Of course they did try to stress abstinence as the "best option" and they shoehorned in anti-abortion crap I still remember being scarred by that silent scream video at least the teacher we had for that particular class thought it was ridiculous and told the ladies to ignore what a bunch of dudes tell them to do with their bodies. She was one of many badass female teachers at my school And it was light on the gay topics too unless someone specifically asked (which did happen and the teachers were generally good about it, albeit mostly ignorant) but we certainly weren't taught that diaper thing I think you just had crap teachers tbh Whimsical bitch
