poppy does songs that are metal, mostly nu-metal/metalcore/pop/crossover, that was her kind of genre in her last album "i disagree", she even did a song borderline death metal/deathcore, listen to "say cheese" for example, that's why she slithes through metal playlist and is talk about in metal mediums, but i agree that her nomination in the grammys was laughable because the song "Bloodmoney" it's more an industrial/glitch song, not metal really

I think that is why I am meh about Poppy. As someone who avidly attends metal shows and events with a tone of friends who do the same, we just never felt Poppy fell under the metal genre.

I feel it is more underground techno with some like metal inspiration.

I didn't dislike I Disagree, but I definitely did disagree with slapping the metal category onto the album. PERSONALLY, when I listen to metal, I am looking for theatrics, quality screaming and heavy breakdowns. Which is why I love Maria Brink so much and Courtney LaPlante.

well, poppy is definitely a hit or a miss in the metalhead community, but i don't have a problem calling "i disagree" a metal album, it had plenty of guitar riffs and i think she blend perfectly the metal and pop and did an amazing crossover, i personally loved the album and i was glad someone was doing that kind of music introducing new people to metal, her artistic path was amazing to follow up to that point. she's definitely an alternative artist now but i wouldn't call her underground.
Her past ep "EAT" was amazing too, but i didn't like her last effort in which she dumped the metal and went for an alternative rock direction, i don't like that kind of alt-rock,  i wish she would've committed to metal fully, but anyway, i still think she has legitimate metal songs, and i like some of them even tho i actually don't like metalcore and nu-metal that much because sometimes the breakdowns  feel like mental masturbation, but i liked what she did, i'm more of a black/doom/symphonic metal junkie.

But listen to "say cheese" it's more like what you describe you like

She made an album mixing metal, pop, and rock called I Disagree and I Disagree (more). She also has a metal EP called Eat. She started blending metal and pop on a few songs from Am I a Girl and the follow-up EP Choke.

Lol poppy’s music slaps way harder than this stuff not necessarily in noise but in quality, concept, execution…

lmao poppy's good, but she doesn't "slaps way harder" than in this moment, arch enemy and spirit box, nor in quality concept or excecution
