Best: Going from AP to CTC in the same year was such a drastic image change for her. AP< CTC< AHS was quite the punch

Worst: Chromatica era

Best: Superbowl Performance (felt like a culminative milestone in her career, and such a proud moment for us fans)

Worst: Her hip injury that brought a halt to the BTW Ball. I remember seeing how down and out she was in that wheelchair. And it's sad that the trauma caused chronic pain, which sounds like she is still working through today

For me the worst has to be the whole of 2016-2020. In hindsight it's clear she was struggling with her mental health all that time, but it was just depressing to see her become such a shell of the star she used to be. Always playing it so safe, no confidence or pride in herself or her work, constantly gushing over how much she needed Mark Ronson/Bradley Cooper/Bloodpop and how she was nothing without them. All the boldness, humour and confidence that made her fun to follow just seemed to have been drained out of her. It was sad.

But this Gucci era she seems to have been totally revived, having fun, enjoying her art both past and present, taking full credit for all the work she put in and just basking in her well-earned success. It's so great to see.

Love this insight. I never looked at her shift in personality to this depth

Best: BTW era, everything. I don’t think any popstar had ever had that strong of a connection with her fans. Everything felt monumental and warm at the same time.

Worst: Gotta agree with the other user that said when she became a shell of her former self, the confidence of the first half of her career was nonexistent, and it’s gotten better but I would say the amount of cosmetic changes in her face are still a direct consequence of that period.

I feel like aside from the meat dress, this is the most polarizing thing she's done :giggle: it's honestly still my favorite thing she's done too. My two favorite Gaga songs are Swine and Dope so having her do this absolutely filthy performance of Swine followed by Dope while still covered in that filth is just :enigma:

Also the fiddle version of Bad Romance! :sharon:

You're stinky

Best: too many

worst: not her worst, but (and trust me I love her) I just don’t give a fine **** about that acting/HL/jazz stuff. I even got tickets to her Westfield performance which is like 25 min away from me and it STILL wasn’t interesting enough for me to go

I actually felt like ARTPOP was such an exciting time to be a fan. The fact she was kinda "hated" by the GP (I mean the media made that up mostly but it felt like it at the time) made being a LM feel more like a niche thing, a community. Artistically she was giving 110%, serving soooo many looks and performances with so much variety stylistically/conceptually, every day was a total surprise. And mostly, it was so exciting to think what she was going to do next. Because she could either try to regain her popularity or just go totally wild, nobody knew.

Granted, I'm probably viewing it through rose coloured glasses because I was young and it was my first era 'stanning' anyone. But regardless, there was a lot of really great content that era.

That's a nice way to look at it, in retrospect. But living in the moment, as a fan since the beginning, it was utterly unbearable.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.
