littlepotter 76,531
Every time a woman gets an ounce of success people scramble to scrutinize her and threaten her with "newer up and coming girls who can eat her up." So misogynistic, so over it. Notice how all of these are f- I mean men. chaeri pls

tylerjs 6,087
Lol men love to hate powerful female artists that speak their mind and reciprocate the sh*t behavior put on them by men. Her performance wasnât even bad, and sheâs singing live which many artists do not do. Not everyone can have a perfect vocal while dancing and many wonât. Theyâll sit on Twitter all day and talk about saweetie but when drake walks on stage in sweats and a T-shirt, stands in one spot and talks into a microphone itâs crickets all aroundâheâs a legend, heâs the goat, too talented, etc. Make it make sense đ¨đşđ§đ¸ âItâs one banana, how much could it cost? $10?â

moonsago 7,285
While I also stand by the argument that twitter is unrealistic with their standards and thay gay men are extremely harsh on women ( to say the least ), this performance was bad and thatâs on period. Yes, she was singing live and somewhat... dance? If you call swinging from one side of the stage to another dancing... but that does not explain how bad it was. The reality of the matter is that most of these western artists donât bother to practice to the extent they should. You have to build up stemina and literally physically train to do a show like this and I am sorry, but besides Beyonce and a few other girls, nobody does it. The men are a MESS also in the west, letâs not even talk about that cause itâs beyond bad. The expectations for women is much higher than for men. But with that being said, as I appreciate the sentiment of pointing out how terrible stan twitter can be, I also do not have to sacrifice the fact that this was bad too. Both things are true in this case. I hope she improves, itâs not the end of the world, itâs just a performance, she doesnât have to beat herself up for it, and I do hope she doesnât, she just has to see where she is lacking and struggling and try to adapt and work on those things. Itâs gonna be slow but she can do it I am sure.  edit: another idea that came to mind was that maybe she struggles with anxiety and nerves? That could explain her forgetting the lyrics and being so out of breath so easily. If thatâs the case then the conversation should be completely different and I hope she finds a way to adapt and make it work in the future, for her own health and peace of mind.
Oriane 22,608
As someone who doesn't know her music at all, there's nothing about these clips that shock me. It seems that she keeps singing the song normally. If an outsider can't tell and can still enjoy the performance, I don't think it's that bad. And I also still don't understand why we expect these musicians to also be performers, as if it made their musical talents less good and worthy. The music comes first, being able to dance and shake around a stage is bonus. The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic! HardlyaSaint 727
âNo breath controlâ âŚWeâre still in a pandemic involving a virus that affects/targets mainly the respiratory system (it just re-released its new album âOmicronâ). All while sheâs throwing it back VICIOUSLY and still trying to keep up with all the other factors of her performance. I know they both donât DIRECTLY correlate, but Iâm just sayingâŚthe principles here are all out of place. Iâm really tired of gay/Stan Twitter tearing down female performers that are HUMAN because theyâre not SUPERHUMAN. Yâall over-glorify/worship the idea of women so much that you put them on a pedestal that is almost sometimes impossible for them to maintain because they are HUMANâ just like men. This can be damaging whether people realize it or not. Pop culture fandoms really are the worst part of pop culture sometimes.   Yeah, itâs definitely time for species-reset. Iâm getting really sick of us. What all are we gonna use covid as an excuse for? She never announced she had covid and she's been out publicly for the past year. So either she hasn't had it or she's been spreading it knowingly. If she can't dance and sing, she shouldn't do both. Most of the time artists don't owe fans anything, but a concert is where they do. There's a direct relationship between the artist and the attendees, and the attendees are going to watch them perform. And a performance is the merging of visual and sound. Even if one is mediocre, the other shouldn't suffer because of it especially sound when people are coming for music.  Gay men don't tear down male performers because gay men aren't even interested in male performers for the most part. And even if they are they're torn to shreds for mediocrity. Gay men do fetishise attractive male artists but straight men also fetishise female artists.
