Uh-oh. She's starting to believe her own press

I'm not reading or watching any of her interviews because the blanket press and overpraise/hype is beyond irritating and I don't want to actively dislike her. I was so relieved to. See Questlove tweet that she is overpraised too.

People like Beyonce and Britney didn’t come up with her. They were before her(late 90s). The group Adele is in came up in 2006-2008- think Gaga, Katy, Taylor, etc…

Miley, Nicki and Katy are questionable.

How? She might not include Nicki under the pop category but Miley and certainly Katy are legit pop stars.

I never said Miley and Katy and Nicki were not pop stars.

In this time period Adele seems to point to (late 2000s) Miley was in a TV show for kids. Wrecking Ball (her first and likely only pop culture moment) happened well into the social media era.

She specifically mentions artists she grew up with as well. Beyonce didn't establish herself as a solo artist until 2006-2008, so it would still apply regardless of her being present in the late 90s, because she's talking about anyone in the industry who was an artist before the social media/streaming boom.

I actually agree with her. I think popstars are a thing of the past. Just like old hollywood had golden age hollywood stars it ended in early 60s, then there weren't anymore grom the "golden age". I think pop stars are not a thing. Just tell me one big pop star of today. It's just not the same, it's not a thing

Justin got big in 2009, he's definitely on that list. Nicki isn't a pop star though so switch her for Beyonce :vegas:

I'd switch Nicki with Ariana, Miley with Bruno

Justin may not be the best person in the world but he's unquestionably one of the biggest pop star.

Exactly. Justin Bieber is probably gonna be the last male pop star à la NSYNC, Backstreet Boys.... He was HUGE, huge beyond words back then, with a huge following. He was everywhere, he became an international name. And I'm not biased since im not a Bieber fan but as a kid I was, I was a "belieber" for sure, i had all the magazines, the concerts, the merch etc. Everyone had a crush on Bieber, he was mentioned on TV shows, on movies, on music. He was one of the last big pop star probably
