Horny Chicken 9,013
Can someone tell me, a person who hasn’t been reading the news, what is going on? Who is this boy and why is he everywhere? And use simple English.

He shot three people - killing two, and injuring one, with the defense of "self defense". He was acquitted of the charges presented against him today. People have mixed reactions and opinions on it. thatfoxyfeeling 13,033
I don't live in America so it kinda baffles me that he had a gun at 17 years old in the first place but I just know if he wasn't white he would have received a sentence. enissa11 2,984
this case it's truly heartbreaking, the video really affected me, and the fact that he was declared not guilty and without any sentence is shocking, i'm glad gaga is bringing this topic in the spotlight in the middle of this xtina/britney gossip mess, she knows what's really important Mad Architect of Light

Didn't he shoot towards the sky and then got chased and that's when he shot people? I think that's the part the judges claims to be self defense, which I'd really ****ing stupid. I misinterpreted a lot of replies in the thread that was closed, figuring that people just didn't realize that his victims were white. But I realize now the point that some of them were making was essentially what Gaga tweeted about. In America, it's innocent until proven guilty... unless you're black. Then it's the reverse. I'm posting this here because I didn't get a chance to in the original thread before it was locked, and it does relate to the topic. I hope that is okay. I just want the people who let me know what the point some were trying to make that I misinturpted and people explained was read and I understand. However, in this case in particular, even one of the victims of Kyle admitted they were chasing him (there's video of this, as well as videos leading up to this when they began to chase him) and wanted to hurt him (there's video of the prime witness testifying this was the case). But in the judicial system in America, generally a jury will only declare a verdict regarding the charges brought upon the defendant. I do realize now that the majority of people were expressing that to me, if he was black, he would have been charged regardless. But that still leaves me feeling a certain way, because that same night, a black man was shot for no real reason by the police and the police held a press conference regarding the shooting announcing that no charges would be placed upon the officer who did that. Many people don't know about that, though. They just know about what happened with Kyle. And because I saw the videos, I feel the anger is misplaced - although I realize that sounds like I feel like it's okay for him to have shot and killed people, when that isn't the case. TSUNAMI 21,063
Why would 17 year old have a gun anyway? Do people in US get a gun by birth? Where are the parents of that young kid and why aren't they held accountable for a) him having a gun and b) him being unprotected and unsupervised in the protest? US system is rotten and is made to fear control the people. I apologize to any US citizens offended who are not like that. I applaud the exceptions and I hope your reality will change and you will be able to live fear free

Dont talk emotions or left and right, talk about the law. Kyle was there to protect small business from rioters because cops announced they wont do anything to protect the community from rioters. He has the legal right to go there and have a gun regardless of weather we think its wrong. He also did not intend to kill people, he was forced to do that because people attacked him, beat him, chased him, and tried to take a hold of hid gun. The only people that should be charged are his mom and the cops He didn't have the legal right to do so. He obtained the gun illegally and he was also under-age, he broke the law to be there in the first place. In some places in the usa, if you broke the law and as a result of that a life was lost you'll be charge for murder (ie. A cop shot your partner while you committed a crime, you'll be charged for murder). The only reason he got away with it is because he was young, white and male. FameMonster01 7,071
I just saw a video and there are literally 4 people attacking him, It feels to me like self defense. (Don't get me wrong, after reading the headline I really thought that the system is again, being unfair.) But this just looks like a self defense, seeing as there were 4 other people on him, and he was completely alone. Now of course 17 years old SHOULDN't have a gun anyways, it's all so sick and twisted

It’s like going into a Forrest, searching for a wild bear, finding it, hitting said bear with a bat, having it attack you, and then you kill it in “self-defense.” Terrible analogy, I know, but you get what I’m trying to convey.
