Pandora-is-Ditching-Mined-Diamonds-Movin

Pandora, one of the world's largest jewelry suppliers, has announced that it will be ditching selling mined diamonds as it launches the company's first-ever lab-created diamonds.

Alexander Lacik, Pandora CEO, told the BBC that this shift was part of a broader sustainability drive at the company.

Lab-made diamonds are cheaper than traditional diamonds but identical to those dug up from the ground in terms of optical, chemical, thermal, and physical characteristics. They are also graded by the same standards: cut, color, clarity, and carat.

Mined diamonds on the other hand come with environmental and ethical considerations, as they are finite resources that can take billions of years to form.

You just know rich people are gonna be upset with this. Luxury just doesn't taste the same if it's not made off the suffering of the lessers.

Even if it's driven by the reduction of costs (not that it necessarily is) I'm here for it; as long as it reduces the impact I don't see a problem

If it helps, then great! That's good news for the environment. Considering how long it takes to get the natural ones, I can't see why they never did this before if it's cheaper to make in the first place, probably the technology just wasn't quite there before this point.

A choice benefiting the environment and the people (forced to mine), love that.

You're right - the concept has been around for a bit, but we can now use it to make diamonds that are large enough in size to be used in jewelry.

The techbology has existed. Lab made diamonds may be new to the company but they arent new overall

Lab made diamonds are cheaper and considered less desirable by some because even tho chemically they are the exact same they feel less authentic. Kind of like an exact replica of an original painting not being as valuable as the actual original

But lab made diamonds are not new.

That’s incredible! If any company has a way to go eco friendly, it must go for it!!

i wonder if their jewels will get cheaper after this announcement once their diamonds will not be like rare gems anymore

I wonder if it in the long run it’ll help bring down prices of diamonds in general, increase further the price of mined diamonds or a mix of both. After all part of why diamonds shot up in price was marketing.

Good. Even though she didn't do that well on All Stars 6, I'm happy that she's bringing change to the world. For greater good! That's what perfect drag queen should be.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Awesome. Finding diamond in the wild is always cool, but if we can keep those for rarity (and value) then why not reduce the price of lab diamonds & sell the hard to find ones at insane prices so nobody wants them or the weirdos obsessed with buying diamonds sourced from abusive practices at crazy high prices  :huntyga:
