Wasn't this show supposed to end a few seasons ago?

I LOVE 90s/early 2000s Simpsons but damn it needs to die already. There hasn't been a funny episode in years, it has no bite to it anymore.

Yes, but Burns don't deserve him after neglecting him for so long :triggered:

Smithers deserves someone who love him back, and emotionally available for him :diane:

He's just a cartoon character and yet I totally agree, Smithers deserves true love :kara:

Why couldn't they just let the series die with dignity 10 years ago:smh:

I haven't watched this show in 10 years or so, it lost it's charm a long time ago IMO.

The also revived Futurama after its cancellation and the new seasons were soooo much worse

Oh I bet it’s gonna be a cringy gay stereotype again

I know it’s a product of their time in the 90s and the 2000s homophobia was the norm on tv, but even the RuPaul episode was cringy, Julio is a cringy walking stereotype, anyways the series was only good in the 90s

The Simpsons always had gay characters as offensive stereotypes for the most part (hell, stereotypes of nationalities and races too), I thought that it would change over the years considering the importance of good representation that people rightfully demand nowadays but, no, The Simpsons is still stuck in the past... like, damn, even Family Guy (yes, yes, I know :koons:) and South Park have been more respectful in some regards (and this is not even saying that much in comparison). The cultural impact of this show reaaaally doesn't help when it's disrespectful, it's done harm and here's hoping things get better but... eh.

When upcoming important events in a show like this happen, they get announced with time, they make it sound like it's going to matter in the long run (like when they announced Homer and Marge would get divorced and it was a big deal years ago, FG with Brian's death, etc.). Anything to temporarily raise the ever-declining viewerbase.

Let's hope this change actually matters in the show and we see them together in more than only this one episode, time to diversify the cast and be respectful if they want to stay relevant.

I actually hate how virtue-signally and inoffensive it's become. The entire essence of the show was that it was just a big charicature of America, playing up every possible stereotype to the max. As a gay man I don't want to be the black sheep in that scenario - if you're making fun of and stereotyping everything else, make fun of gays too. I found most of the gay punchlines from the heyday pretty funny.

Now that the show is so focused on not offending anyone, it has nothing to offer. It's just a soulless, toothless, digitally-animated husk of what it used to be.
