I don’t think so. I can’t imagine Christmas season without that song. I remember listening to this song when I was a little child and decorating my tree. I just can’t get enough of that anthem! It’s a modern classic and deserves the #1 spot every year.

She has released a bunch of amazing Christmas songs and they are very underrated. Her version of O Holy Night is unreal, definitely the best version I have ever heard. I really like Oh Santa (both versions), it really deserves more recognition. Christmas Time Is In the Air Again, When Christmas Comes, Joy To The World, Miss You Most (At Christmas Time), Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) are all fabulous songs. She is clearly the queen of Christmas. All hail the Queen!

Lady Palutena

Although I am a Lamb, I find it is overplayed and over-hyped; I mean, at its core it is a typical "missing my love" song with a Christmas aesthetic. Which is fine, but that's basically what Mariah is known for—love songs. Nothing wrong with that, but to me, there is nothing about it that really makes it stand out as this amazing Christamas anthem.

Adoremus in caelum, Palutena. Dea luminis.

i hate Christmas and all the consumerism and stuff that comes from it, so yes, outside the Christmas theme that song doesn't stand out at all, it's overrated.

No! That song never gets old. I do prefer the old Christmas songs by Nat King Cole like the one that goes 'chestnuts roasting on an open fire' but this a modern classic.

Same :tony:

I love slower and more cozy songs for Christmas but Mariah is not to be trifled with :gum:

Let's not anger the lambs :gum:

It's a classic. Calling it overrated would be like calling Last night overrated as well. I mean, they're only played at the Christmas anyways. The overall hype is only about the joke of being the only Mariah Carey song that is still famous (and only in Christmas)

The song became a meme on it's own during the years because it's being overplayed. BUT WE ALL LOVE the fact it's being overplayed.

Like Macarena for xmass. You're tired of hearing it but god damnit you will still shake your bootah  when it plays.

No, not overrated. It is what it is. With Christmas songs, it isn't just about whether you think a song is good or not. This song has elbowed its way in and it IS very much part of the soundtrack that marks December as a special time of year, and that goes whether you like or dislike the song or Christmas itself.

An hour ago, I was listening to a morning news radio show and they did an item on Christmas. What did they play to introduce the item ? Yep, you guessed it.

Fam, please differ between classics and overrated. Even if you don't like Mariah, you gotta be fcked up to call this song overrated  :enigma:

This song is the last modern Christmas song that managed to be a classic. No other contemporary Christmas songs  have done so since.

I don't like Christmas songs anyway so they're all overrated in my opinion :huntyga:

Honestly, when I hear the beginning of that song around Christmas time, I get so joyful and hyped. It's SO perfect for the season and I honestly don't get tired of it (when it's December; prior to December, not interested:vegas:)
