White House announces to revoke Covid-19 travel ban in early November

The White House on Monday said it would revoke its travel ban on visitors from 33 countries, which was implemented to quell the spread of covid-19.

Foreign nationals flying to the United States will be required to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus when the policy takes effect in early November, said White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients.

Vaccinated travelers will also have to test negative for the virus within three days of departure, and unvaccinated Americans returning to the United States will be required to test negative within one day of leaving and again after arriving.

After more than 500 days with a travel ban in place, the U.S. has announced that it will lift its travel ban for EU and U.K. travelers from November onwards (in addition to visitors from many other countries).

A recent report entitled ‘the multi-billion cost of a lost summer’ suggested that there would be £55.7 ($76) billion in lost trade and £3 ($4.1) billion in tourism GDP if reopening was delayed until September and the report added that approximately 5,164 U.K. aviation (and related jobs) were lost each month after February 2020.

White House Covid-19 Response Co-ordinator Jeff Zients said at a press briefing Monday that non-U.S. citizens would need to show proof of vaccination plus a negative Covid-19 test result taken no more than three days prior to departure.

Getting a test 3 days before leaving with no quarantine seems to defeat the point. You could get infected in those 3 days. Like

That's how most countries does it right now anyway plus the vaccine will offer a huge boost of protection.
