Probably for the best, production is kinda lacking when it comes to the UK, hope WOW or whoever may pick it up down the line do a better job with it.

It’s probably more likely it’s been axed due to public pressure because in the last 2 years the amount of hate from people who say Drag Race is agenda pushing and wasting “taxpayer money” (even though it’s prize is already provided by WOW now) and since the UK is moving further right every day. It sadly makes sense.

As a plus hopefully they will give better stipends to the girls, and make the prize money much more with probably sponsored challenges, with cash prizes for mini challenges now too. 

A big bad is it’ll massively affect the viewing party economy in the UK. Because of it being in the BBC and being released at 8pm on a weekday and not overlapping with the US franchise. The viewing party economy was already dying before this season when I used to host one in Newcastle. And if it overlaps with the US seasons it’ll take a backseat for promo. Also both good and bad; they’ll probably now remove UKvTW since it was only made on the BBCs say-so and it’ll probably be replaced with a UK All Stars. Also wouldn’t shock me if Ru steps down as head judge from it.

Also very likely they’ll have to fly the girls out to film in another country like the US or Portugal since the UK studio they film in is owned by the BBC exclusively. Unless they move to Manchester again like they did for season 3.

This is a shame. Most people don't have WOW+ so the majority of the population is losing one of the few queer-oriented shows. I'm glad they can keep it going for the fans in some way though

If they have any sense then ITV or Channel 4 should pick it up. But idk if they will since they’re already bringing back XFactor and have Big Brother as appointment viewing. Drag Race was one of the BBC’s biggest appointment viewing shows year-round besides Bake Off/Masterchef

I hope it won't affect the production too much. The wow exclusive seasons are not exactly known for their great production value.

Depends really, because the filming production is different in the UK when it comes to things like unions (it’s why Delta wasn’t asked to do UK as Ru’s hairstylist).

My guess is ITV or someone will buy it off them before they film All Stars. Or alternatively they will take the girls to film in Portugal where they filmed DUvTW.

Okay but will there be a season 9 too next year? Or just an All Stars next year, like they did it with Down Under?

Because if UK AS comes out in autumn, it will be the same time as the regular seasons premiered so far

So far it’s only an All Stars because there was no renewal confirmation. The renewal confirmations happen when a season airs (regular one) and they probably had an AS already prepared with the BBC so just took it with them. Most likely they’re gonna see if anyone picks it up before they film a regular season again. We will know soon because usually by episode 3 they put out the casting form for UK. People usually found out about casting by December and filming usually began in late January/early February.

If we go off of the schedules of UKvTW then the potential queens for an AS will have been contacted already. Because UKvTW used to film in about October/November time. They also probably switched to an All Stars because UKvTW infamously didnt have a good rep amongst the alumni.

igwym, I haven't even seen the latest US season yet and i consider myself a drag race stan  

i mainly keep up with all stars

there's just too many to actually keep up with and be invested in
