Well let me tell you one thing about this article - I don't know what interpolation means :crossed:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

Might as well something common for this era of music. And either way, nobody lose. The original artists got credited and paid. The todays artist can get a hit. And the music listeners can get good music to listen to.

it's similar to sampling. A sample is when a song uses an element of the recording of another one, while an interpolation is when they use an idea of the song (lyrics, a melody, etc) but not the recording of the song they're referencing.

For example Ava Max's my head and my heart interpolates All around the World, because it borrows its melody but it doesn't sample the actual recording of the song.

I have a pretty torn stance on interpolations: on one hand, I think it demonstrates a lack of creativity since you’re essentially recycling someone else’s work. However, on the other hand, it breathes new life into old melodies that might not have great original production value. I’m really glad @Andreu mentioned Ava’s My Head and My Heart, as that definitely comes in mind as a perfect example of a recent one. All Around The World is such an iconic 2000s bop and by Ava using that melody, I get a huge wave of nostalgia and it’s instantly catchy.

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

Well, back in the day they used to make full album of covers or if a og song was a hit, someone else would cover it next month, it was a common thing
