Madonna I believe had just signed onto Interscope and MDNA was one of her first albums through them after leaving Warner Records. And of course there was still all of that contention between Gaga and Madonna stans over the accusation she ripped off Express Yourself with Born This Way. And then MDNA dropped followed by her tour where she did the mashup of both songs which didn’t really help especially when it was followed up with She’s Not Me.
