Beyonce, Jay-Z and Tiffany getting dragged

REALITY

I noticed that everytime something or someone gets "canceled" on social media, I tend to think the opposite of what everyone else thinks. I don't see a problem with this...

Y'all act like you cared so much about the gem and the painting before. All of sudden, people have become jewel and art connoisseurs.

Like usual, I feel like a lot of the "backlash" is just performative activism.

Anyway, I still can't process how come that Beyonce was cheated on. Even in this campaign - she looks like queen and her man... ma'am please :laughga: Men ain't ****.

I feel like it’s Tiffany who’s getting the backlash and not Bey and Jay

Only one tweet somehow blames Beyonce, the rest only TiffanyĀ

The thread became a Gaga-Bey bash instead of focusing on the realĀ thing.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Based on herĀ interviews I'd tend to think she's just not a very interesting person. Good looks only get you so far in a relationship.Ā :vegas:

I low-key thought this was a Basquiat-inspired set piece and not an actual Basquiat since it conveniently features the Tiffany color.

All in all, I think people are exaggerating, as per usual. But the images do come across as pretentious as ****, ngl. First the Mona Lisa, then Basquiat… guys, you are a rapper and an r’n’b singer, chill.

As for the diamond criticism, isn’t it cool that a black woman would finally be wearing it given its history? I’m not seeing it as a negative, more like a way of symbolically reclaiming it.

Cancel culture needs to stop trying to fix things that happened decades, centuries ago: what’s important is what we learn from history to try to build a better future, right?

Yes we canĀ :ohwell:Ā Except Gaga truly showed interest and investment (see what she did with Abramovic and Bob Wilson), she didn't use art as a gratuitous way to position herself above others, which is low-key what's been coming across from the Carters for the last 7 years or so.

I have respect for BeyoncƩ and Jay-Z, but frankly they need to stop blowing their own horn 24/7.

Well, maybe she is, but I'm still sure she deserves someone who at least breaks up with her when they feel like sleeping around/catching feelings for somebody else. Jay really did her and kids wrong.

Oh yeah, the Abramovic collab that Marina herself was unhappy about because Jay-Z didn't honor his part of the deal when he was supposed to help her institute? Great example.

Plus, it felt more like a gratuitous plug to add some edgy artistic value to his video (in the same way they're now using Basquiat's image for the seemingly same void reason). On the other hand, we are yet to see Jay-Z hang around naked and blindfolded in aĀ forrest for days - not that it always needs to be that extreme, but let's just say we're not talking about the same level of personal involvement.

As you mentioned, this is a luxury ad - wouldn't you think the Carters' image would be prestigious enough? Did they need to go the extra mile and put themselves in the same league as Basquiat? Honestly, I don't have the answer. I just get why some people are mad :laughga:

Also, I don't get your Cake reference - I do hope you're aware the lyrics are satirical, tho.
