I don't see a problem with this... Y'all act like you cared so much about the gem and the painting before. All of sudden, people have become jewel and art connoisseurs. All in all, I think people are exaggerating, as per usual. But the images do come across as pretentious as ****, ngl. Great example. Plus, it felt more like a gratuitous plug to add some edgy artistic value to his video (in the same way they're now using Basquiat's image for the seemingly same void reason). On the other hand, we are yet to see Jay-Z hang around naked and blindfolded in aĀ forrest for days - not that it always needs to be that extreme, but let's just say we're not talking about the same level of personal involvement. As you mentioned, this is a luxury ad - wouldn't you think the Carters' image would be prestigious enough? Did they need to go the extra mile and put themselves in the same league as Basquiat?
