It's been 84 years... and I can still smell the fresh gays. The threads had never been posted. The Warning Points had never been given. Gagadaily was called the Forum of Dreams. And it was. It really was...

I wish I had had a computer when GGD had first been made. And been able to experience TheFame MB and Propagaga in their early days. So much of those early internet years are lost truly forever as no one had the foresight or presence of mind to back them up.

Our lead archivist and true Ghost In The Machine @Sara is the brains behind Gagaverse, which is an online repository of what we were able to preserve beginning in 2011 for the fans.

We ran a sophisticated crawler which I have not been able to personally reproduce on the entire original GagaDailyBoards forums. The live website itself,  the main blog, run by Admin, was mostly backed up semi naturally by the Wayback machine, but because of robotstxt no one could crawl the forum. Except Sara. She made that possible and we did preserve the entire original ggd from 2009 to 2011 on Gagaverse. Roughly every 2 or 3 years she does another crawl.

I want to learn how so I can do it every year. Sara did promise to teach me, but she has a great deal of things going on right now and I respect her space.

*** This will sound insane but I feel it was and is critically important to preserve how fans percieved LG's fame and what it inspired them to do as the eras happened... ***

If you ask my why I archive and why I save remixes and fan art its because I believe this digital representation of love for what Gaga does is important and should be saved.

We as fans document the history of what this superstar and complete humanitarian icon does for us every day. All the voices of the fans are a mosaic of joy that we share with each other and the world. Almost every quote or experience she gives is inspiring.

Sometimes I take this very seriously and I can talk at length about the necessity of preservation and this can get me into trouble because I don't always respect the boundaries that not all things are mine to archive. I want to apologize to the people to whose toes I have stepped on in my anxious haste to preserve the day to day experiences. I'm sorry. I love Gaga and Gagadaily so much for all the enriching moments and deepest inspirations I've gotten from both over the years.

(Thanks for everything @Admin

There's something heroic about the way my fans operate their cameras. So precisely and intricately, so proudly, and so methodically. Like Kings writing the history of their people. It's their prolific nature that both creates and procures what will later be perceived as the "kingdom." So, the real truth about Lady Gaga fans lies in this sentiment: They are the kings. They are the queens. They write the history of the kingdom, while I am something of a devoted Jester.

It is in the theory of perception that we have established our bond. Or, the lie, I should say, for which we kill. We are nothing without our image. Without our projection. Without the spiritual hologram of who we perceive ourselves to be, or rather to become, in the future.

Gosh I remember WAY back in the day, when gaga had her own forum on her own website. It was a total mess. But I remember frequenting that, and I think that was ultimately how I found GGD.

The earliest times I remember spending on GGD was 2009 around the VMAs. That’s when I got Uber obsessed. The hype we used to have around new releases, and especially new videos was crazy. Like 10+ pages per minute. I distinctly remember everything going ape **** during Alejandros promo and video release.

those were the days! All in all, I think my favorite thread ever was the collection thread. It was super active, and everyone would help each other out and post their merch and collections and it was so fun. Started with CDs, then there was a magazine thread.

I honestly miss the excitement from the early days in Gaga’s career. But looking back, it’s kinda amazing to have been a part of it all.

If I remember right, it was founded around February 2009. I’m a member from April 2009, we were only 160 members at that time.

How have you only posted 154 times...

Wet Fire

I had been lurking here since early 2011, so I basically missed the first 2 years. But I joined in late 2012. There are quite a few members that I truly miss even now...some of them post once in two years and some haven't really come back. :fatcat:

I remember getting first WPs for spamming the **** out of GGD, posting in every single thread about something else. :flutter:

Not insane at all! I may have only joined GGD a few years back, but I’ve been a fan of hers since Just Dance so I know what you mean. No matter what she does to this day, I have that baseline perception of who she was at the beginning. I remember going on YouTube every day and looking for any new content on her that I could find- a performance, interview, new Gagavision…. She had such a captivating presence even before social media blew up to where it’s at today!

Been a cuff touple, a puff bupple, a tough couple of years.

Is it included in the rules? If not maybe there could be a line for the possibility of the messages being archived

I did not know Gagaverse and this is gold!

This is really important, what a great thing to do

I remember saving a few pages of another forum when it closed, the mods there did not save a copy of it :noparty:

Butters Stotch

I 'm honestly angry at myself for waiting so long to start interacting with other fans here on GagaDaily. I discovered this site 1 or 2 months before Bad Romance was released. I created an account on 2017 and started interacting on forums last year during the pandemic. But I swear I've been checking GagaDaily day after day since I first discovered it back in 2009.
