Who outside the fandom and jazz fans know about Gaga doing a jazz album? Yes it's for the general public, but the ignorance the writer expresses (for effect) to me just reads as being uninformed. This is CNN, but it reads like a review by a casual Tony Bennett fan left on Facebook. If you're going to review a show by two living legends, you should know their history at least. This sounds like he didn't bother to look into her and quite frankly, for someone who writes about music, has been living under a rock. Maybe he does know all about Gaga, but he thinks this is a fun take on a review but he didn't realize this 'epiphany' that this blonde pop girl can actually perform is nothing new and beaten to death for years in article after article. Be more creative and informative. According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
jimmytimestep 2,738
Y'all need to chill Critics are shady, you need to find something to critique, literally the definition of their job this piece was written with a warm heart and love for both Gaga and (tbh, more importantly) Tony. if this writer wasn't a fan before, they sure are now. She can sing jazz, it's a known fact, she won a grammy for it. Stop putting her in a wacky pop star box. That's her brand. It's going to keep happening. Not really, he's speaking from his own perspective and journalists are supposed to do some research into the subjects they write about. 😇
Chris Thomason 966
It's funny how people still mention Gaga's "over the top outfits". Gaga has been very tame with her outfits for a number of years now since the ARTPOP era.

Sassy McSass 814
Did you guys read about who the author is and what kind of work he’s done before? It has nothing to do with pop music. Not everyone has time or is interested in keeping up with it, even when it comes to icons like Gaga. As a stan it obviously bothers me when I see people are still tying her image to crazy antics and costumes, but - let’s face it -, she’s probably never going to escape these remarks. That’s how the world knew her at the height of her success, when she was almost inescapable - and that’s hard to achieve. That people who are not fans even remember her like that is a testament to how culturally important she was. And, yes, she’s on her way to becoming a legend, but let’s not pretend unless you serach for it you’ll see news on everything she does in every paper - those days are gone. She’s an acclaimed star, but she’s not the most popular pop singer out there anymore. i’m sure most fans who, like me, felt a little bad at first, but kept reading the article until the end will recognize a lot of respect towards her as an artist. The point of the article is that this author’s been a fan of Tony for all his life - and we know these shows are a celebration of Tony first and foremost-, but he still, even with all the preconceptions he had about Gaga, was pleasantly surprised and recognized her as true talent. It shows when he talks about her “wattage” in the ending. Anyways, if you can get past the first paragraphs, it’s a very good reading and a very positive review of Gaga as an artist and as a person. It made me emotional. I hope others can enjoy it as well. Thanks for sharing, OP. I’ll keep looking for Wonderland
Schwerk 7,271
Gotta laugh at people acting like I'm losing sleep over a review. I am not offended As I said it was a nice article, it just feels like it was written in 2015 instead of 2021, which is suprising for a news outlet like CNN.
