JoanneMonster 8,792
of course she will, but people here tend to forget that literally her biggest hit was about 2 years ago when she was 33. If she puts out a record and really promotes it and work with it she’ll be successful of course. She was succesful with chromatica with 0 promo. Starmie25 15,842
When she debuted people thought she was like 40 or 50 lol. She'll be fine.
Delulu Rogers 7,093
Yes to a certain extent but all she has to do is promote her music more. There should have been at least another single proceeding chromatica and the lead should have been Babylon. With decent promo for all 3 songs, they easily could have become huge, signature hits regardless of her being in her mid 30s.

See radio’s hesitancy to spam Shallow and Rain On Me i heard Shallow on the radio literally twice, the first time being a week after it won the Oscar so it had already hit number 1. i was so annoyed
Putang Ina Mo 2,079
P!nk was in her mid-30s when Just Give Me A Reason was released. Years after, now, she's still charting even when she's already in her early-40s. my username says it all 🇵🇭
Ivy 11,910
Yes I think so she'll not be immune to it. But I think she'll have a better time than some other women because of her range of talents and dynamic personality. But I think she's smart to do as much acting as she can/wants to right now because after she's 40+ I don't think she'll have as many interesting offers coming to her.. I mean I hope she will but idk..
HotLikeMexico 4,794
I don’t think she cares. And I’m talking about others people’s opinions on herself before y’all try to twist this.

LilyLark 9,968
All women in the music industry face ageism, and as others pointed out she already has when it comes to radio and curated streaming playlists. For the record, I am not trying to slam other women...but what will help Gaga is that she never marketed herself as the "super sexy traditionally hetero hot" girl with music aimed at 18 year olds. The girls who were marketed like that have to deal with a sexist industry and were probably pressured to do so by their managers....and there is absolutely a time limit on that sort of persona. Gag's fanbase was always a bit older (she never aimed for the teenagers, even if she had and still has teenage fans) and mostly women and the LGBTQ crowd. So I definitely think she'll find it easier to retain her fans, even if she doesn't pull BTW level numbers ever again and deals with industry related ageism Plus, Shallow was a massive hit and Chromatica had a top 5 song and a #1 song...so she's still doing well. Bradley 58,395
She already has like most people have said. When we noticed that Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande are favoured more than Gaga, we know what's at work - ageism. I'm afraid Ariana and Billie will too years in the future. But Gaga has defied the odds again and again that she somehow manages to keep herself in the limelight and be considered as a cool women to stan for. I think it has a lot to do with her personality, she is not just a musical and vocal prodigy but also a symbol of kindness, of peace. Her heart is way bigger than just wanting to be a pop star, she wants to change the world, and she has shown a level of maturity, compassion, empathy, and resilience that have wowed older audiences as well. When the younger audiences drop her, her older audiences lift her up. I actually think that men also face ageism in the industry. Justin Timberlake is already hardly charting, his collabs used to blow up pretty easily but now it takes so much effort. Usher is no longer exciting, even rappers like Eminem and Jay-Z have seem to be relayed to the peripherals rather than remaining at the centre. If you've kept up with Eminem's work, you will know how often he raps about struggling with maintaining his legacy. I think in some aspects women do have it harder, just look at Katy Perry, but there have been some like Jennifer Lopez who have been able to transform themselves into revered legends rather than forgotten has-beens, and I think Gaga will go down the route of a biopic-worthy celebrated figure in the future. flyaway 15,350
Yes, but she will prevail. She's not only for the cute hits and the tiktok 15 min fame. She's the real deal. I can see her having longevity just like Cher.
OMonster 14,639
In the music industry, yes - and she already has. But that doesn't mean it'll ruin her career. She'll always be Lady Gaga and that'll always carry commercial weight. It just might not translate to Top 40 hits, which is fine and actually more secure. In the film industry, no. Gaga isn't seen as the 'pretty blonde' - her youth has never been a part of her appeal. She's not cast in roles defined by age and beauty. I think she'll be in top movies until she retires if she plays her cards right. In fact, I really wouldn't be surprised if - to newer generations - 'Gaga' is seen as an actress more than a singer, first and foremost. I think she'll spend more of her career acting than singing/releasing music. subtext / fantasy
MOT 2,805
Well yes, she will face ageism, but it will give her pause only for long enought to kick it in the nuts and leave it in a crumpled heap on the ground before speeding off in her Lamborghini to her next project.
