I think Poker Face is one of the only songs from The Fame that you can revisit and it it doesn't sound dated.

I don't think Bad Romance sounds dated, either.

Poker Face - There are no other songs like that anywhere - with the exeption of Bad Romance/Judas. It is timeless, but less than Bad Romance if that makes sense.

Bad Romance - Set the bar the moment the demo leaked. When the official version got released, everybody instantly fell for it not just because its a big song - its also out of this world.

There is NOTHING wrong with sounding dated  ...

No shade intended, but I have a slight problem with that statement in that imo 9 times out of 10 when people describe something as dated it is intended as a criticism. However, you clearly don't intend it as a criticism and I agree with your assessment in the spirit in which you mean it, i.e. Poker Face sounds dated, Bad Romance doesn't.

For myself, dated or not isn't a question that would ever enter my head. I can't get beyond good or bad, and these two songs are good.

Can you please explain, how you define “dated”? I always wonder what people really mean by it and if (most likely) people have different opinions on what dated means to them 😅

To me it means to sound like a product of it’s time. It would sound weird coming out in modern times. It would be like releasing a fully blown 2013-styled edm track in 2021. It might be a good song, but it would sound weird and out of place amongst the modern crop of music.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

That’s very fair. When it comes to songs that are from the past, I don’t view the term dated to be a criticism. To me, that styled criticism would be to say a song aged poorly, and I don’t believe that either song has aged poorly.

When a new song comes out and gets deemed dated, that I accept as criticism. Idk if this makes much sense, but I guess it’s more of a personal note for myself.

Yes :neyde: although I still love them, especially Poker Face.

Gaga is in dire need of new pop hits, in my opinion. I still hear Applause more often than Rain On Me

I think "Just Dance" sounds more dated than the two songs combined. Poker Face still holds up pretty well, and Bad Romance is timeless.

No, but they sound “of their time”. They’re still getting hundreds of millions of streams so they’re fine.

You'd be surprised by the amount of people who have newfound respect for Poker Face in 2021.
