Teletubby 150,090
Chris Brown is being sued for US$1.5 million after he allegedly infringed on the copyright of Tight Up Skirt — a song recorded in 1997 by Dancehall artist Red Rat. The American singer had used a vocal interpolation of Red Rat’s hit song in his track Privacy from 2017. The lawsuit was filed by UK-based Greensleeves Publishing Ltd against Brown and Sony Music Entertainment. In the suit Greensleeves alleges that Brown “took the core musical feature” of the song and “used it prominently” in Privacy, and without permission at that. The legal docs also point to a similarity in lyrics. Red Rat’s song includes the line, “Hey you girl inna di tight upskirt,” and Brown’s includes, “Hey you girl without a tight upskirt” . The complaint says that the lyric in question is “a focal point” in “Privacy” because the song has “a very spare instrumental accompaniment.” source source "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy

Shipper 13,078
Do these people intentionally steal/sample songs and don't give credit where it's due on purpose or they just have a whole ton of samples and random music files in their computer they try for a new song and then they forgot someone owns it after using it. I mean, surely you dont want to wait to get sued cause the music you put out are in public and anyone can hear it. Do they get less payout if there are more people to credit? Is that how it works? I just find all these lawsuits over songs confusing since I dont know if they are intentional or not. 🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶🩶
