Gagaloo911 12,959
The amount of transphobes and anti-inclusivity people on this site is revolting considering what Gaga stands for
Gaga2645 2,301
As a hispanic I don’t understand why people are against it when Spanish is a colonizer language to begin with. I see it written off as white people trying to add things into the language, But if i remember correctly I believe it comes from a group of indigenous hispanics that used “X” in place of generalizing people as masculine out of belief of the a third gender/people who could “move between genders” (literally just transfolk, this belief is from years and years ago) Most hispanic transpeople (EYE have seen at least) like the term Latinx
Gagaloo911 12,959
It's honestly embarrassing for this site that anytime an issue related to transgender, non-binary, or gender neutral stuff comes up on this site, all the anti-trans/gender neutral and those against social justice come out the woodworks to make their ignorance and hatefulness known, yet they still want to claim to be pro-LGBTQ and pro-equality

Like am I actually seeing "colonialism" and "colonizer" as an excuse for having prejudice when Spanish itself is a perpetrator of colonialism and tool of colonizers to take away indigenous people's identities. Like wtf How very shortsighted and just plain ignorant of the history of colonialism, not to mention the fact that Spanish and these languages are inherently anti-gender neutral to begin with and the term "Latino" is NOT gender neutral at all

When someone says “Latinos” they absolutely mean everyone regardless of gender. I genuinely don’t understand how someone who actually speaks Spanish doesn’t understand this. In English you can say “Latin people” Just because we don’t subscribe to a term most Latinos don’t use doesn’t make us prejudiced.

At the end of the day they're all issues having to do with gender, and for some reason gay men in particular are very prejudiced when it comes to those issues. GooberChill 456
Question to my Hispanic friends on GayGayDaily: Do you like the term Latinx? I actually use it fairly often (I’m Mexican) out of habit. Curious to see what y’all think.

Many languages are gendered. But in Spanish “Latino” means everyone.

And funny how you only respond to that part but completely ignore the other points I was making and the fact Spanish itself is a colonizer tool and language, so making it more gender neutral is not colonizing it Also, I'm not implying all Spanish speakers need to subscribe to or use the term. But there's no reason for undermining it or being prejudiced against it when people are simply trying to make a colonizer language and patriarchy system more inclusive and sensitive to the times that we are in. Flippy 14,471
They way so many US born Latinos use this word in the Bay Area I hate it. I like the way people in Portuguese do the gender neutral E instead. Or even using Latin@s… But whatever. I don’t use it but if people feel comfortable with it, then to each their own. I also think that Latin@s aren’t getting vaccinated, not because they don’t want to be deported, but because a lot of them believe anything and everything that hear on TV, radio or YouTube…. It’s the ignorance that some people have. I know this first hand since I know a lot of people like that TMBT 3.22.11 // TBTWB 1.17.13 // ArtRAVE 6.3.14 // C2CT 5.28.15 // TJWT 8.13.17 // CWT 9.8.22 // TMB 7.22.25 & 7.24.
