The ministry of Mexican culture has asked fashion brands Zara and Anthropologie for the explotation of typical Mexican indigenous designs and embroideries.

Kendall Jenner, Zara and many other people and companies have appropriated our culture, customs and aesthetics to profit from them without giving any benefit to those they're appropriating from.

It's very clear they appropriated garments that made and wore by Mexican people and indigenous people in particular. They ain't paying homage to our culture they are literally stealing from it and making bank.

I am totally ok with paying homage and being open about what or who inspired them but when it is from such segregated community it'd be nice they give back some of the earnings to the communities they stole their ideas and culture from.

This is one of the many instances where cultural appropriation is very real, very harmful, and very problematic.

Although the most popular examples of appropriation are more appreciation or plain ignorance, corporate BS like this is disgusting.

These companies could easily collaborate with indigenous clothing makers to create exclusive designs AND PAY THEM FOR IT, but they choose not to.
