Vaccines working how vaccines work.

In a somewhat stunning turn of events, the covid vaccinations have worked to reduce covid from a deadly virus to merely an unfortunate passing virus. While mutations mean you will NEVER stop a virus spreading - thats what a virus is - the vaccines are showing reduced severity in those that test positive.

The great news is that as restrictions are loosened, more people are testing positive. This is great news because they are vaccinated, and the vaccine has allowed them to contract covid-19 and barely even notice they had it , much like the common cold... or the flu which is still caught and spread annually, but who's impact is weakened in those who are vaccinated.

In other news: water is wet.

Less of the doom and gloom on here by those spreading misinformation that can be passed on like whispers and mutate over time to convince people of your nonsense. THAT is a much more harmful virus.

I'm still waiting for a proper consensus on how likely it is for a vaccinated person to spread covid. I live with someone who's immunocompromised so even though I get my second Moderna shot on Monday, I'm still going to be insanely cautious as long as he's around.

Judging by how these things have worked previously, I'd say that over time it will mutate into total weakness as it struggles to get past immune systems. By the time its passed on it likely will be very very weak. Hopefully it doesn't go rogue

If ur talkimg about my thread i didnt spread any misinformation. There was always a question mark over how easily a vaccinated person might or might not spread the virus and how much impact that would have on rate of new cases and spread rate

In fact u didnt say a single thing on my thread i didnt already know tbh so i think u totally missed the whole point. So let me break it down for u in detail...

 

#1. Im perfectly aware a vaccine doesnt create some kind of impenetrable shield. U breath in the virus its still gonna go in u either way and u gotta fight it off. In the mean time u may still get sick and potentially spread it

 

#2. And i get that that infection is typically gonna be way more mild or even asymptomatic because the vaccine already creates that immunity for u

 

#3 i get the main goal of the vaccines was not to necessairily prevent illness entirely but to prevent hospitalizations and deaths which they are doing effectively

 

Got all that? I never suggested otherwise in my comments or thread cuz im not this idiot ur making me out to be

 

HOWEVER there was always the debate about how much this would reduce spread because of lower viral loads on vaccinated individuals... and a spread rate of less than 1 eventually would eliminate the virus the same type of effect as natural herd immumity. Some optimists hoped with a high vaccination rate cases would fall even with fewer restrictions thus also protecting anyone that happens not to be vaccinated. Not to mention it also reduces risks of new variants that may be more resistant from emerging if theres less spread going around

 

The resurge in cases despite high vaccination is showing that despite high vaccination (at least for chineese vaccine) the spread rate remains higher than many hoped

 

And that was the point of my thread. I was not saying the vaccines arent working or that their main purpose of preventing deaths and hospitalizations werent working

 

Are we clear now?

Bullsh*t. Ive been super pro vaccine scince the beggining and have always encouraged ppl to take it and continue to do so. But ive posted all news thats come out about them (including anything disapointing not just the good stuff)

The definition of vaccine must have changed until quite recently. You see, Ive been vaccinated against polio, tetanus, Hep A and B and Tuberculosis amongst others. The idea behind it , was that I never actually contracted those disease, hence you know..a vaccine! Now, it seems a vaccine is a case of where you STILL get the disease, but you don't know you have it. AMAZING advances in science!
