I’ve recently learned that she had to fight for Sacrifice and Sabotage to become singles, paid the video production for Sabotage all herself, handles vinyl production herself. Basically her label is letting her down and shows no support since they’re investing so much in Dua’s career currently :(

I don’t get why this has become common practice at labels today:saladga:. Interscope has done this too. For awhile (pre-2013), they put a lot into Gaga, then between 2015-2018 everything went to Selena Gomez, and then 2019-2020 to Billie Eillish, and now Olivia Rodrigo. It seems that labels today are failing at having or wanting to have more than one successful artist at a time. The only label that seems to simultaneously have multiple artists doing well is Republic.

Bebe has been in the industry for over a decade and has written smash hits for other artists and has her own. It’s good she still knows her worth and has it in her to keep on going

Did her label support this album at all? I honestly didn’t even know she put out an album. It’s a shame, as Bebe has put out some really fun and commercially successful songs in the past. Glad she’s standing by her work, though. Ethic of a true artist.

I'm would have been interested in a Bebe album, at the very least hearing it one time during it's debut week. I had no clue she even put an album out.

Baby, I’m Jealous didn’t get the push it deserved. And the album was released 7-8 months after it, huge mistake.  And I love Bebe.

Dua's impact! Don't give up on your era girl, you could have a #1 in a few months from this album.

I feel bad for her, the album is really cute :(

Would've been better if it followed the sound of Sacrifice, but it's still decent.

Too many collabs :yennefer:

The label forced her to put half them collabs on the album (including the Doja collab as the lead) & to reduce all the songs to under 3 minutes to “play the streaming game.”

I feel so bad for Bebe, the album and her career deserve so much more. She’s been mistreated by labels & producers so much throughout her career.

At least she knows her own worth

Bebe is being neglected by her label because of Dua :rip:

Plz let's not make this about a label picking one female over another. It really doesnt have much to do with that. Labels are able to support multiple female acts at once. Obviously they will focus more on their biggest stars but they do not just abandon an artist for no reason. It's likely they just did not see the returns in investment that they were hoping for and then started to just give up on Bebe's record which is what happens with all artists who consistently underperform the way she has been underperforming sadly :( It sucks tbh...I wish the record could at least climb up into the top 50 at some point.

"not following the mold" what?

She probably means she herself is not conventional in the industry which is kind of true. She didnt release her debut album until she was like 29 which is considered getting "old" in the pop music industry sadly, she used to be a rock act before turning into a pop artist, she was a songwriter for many big artists for years wishing to become a singer herself but was undermined for a long time etc...etc...etc...I sort of really respect her origin story and husstle. Her music may be rather generic but she really is a bit of an anomaly. Her career has been pretty weird. She's had huge smashes but no consistency and she's sort of just there but every once in a while she releases something infectious. I wish her the best and hope the record can climb higher :(

If she would have stuck to the fresh, new sound (for her) of Sacrifice, she would have charted better. Bebe’s latest album sounds so similar to previous albums.
