Better Day 5,766
“SCOTLAND is a wealthy country which can afford to become independent, according to the head of an economic think tank. David Phillips, an associate director at the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), spoke about the prospect of Scotland leaving the Union as he launched an analysis of the country’s finances. While describing Scotland as “relatively rich”, he claimed the nation would face a significant budget deficit if it voted Yes and suggested Holyrood would have to cut costs to replace Westminster funding.” source: https://www.thenational.scot/news/19259447.ifs-scotland-rich-country-become-independent/?fbclid=IwAR2GCY4lYOFb4ZtIsEGVrKeTPRHkWgb9xcIevZ-QCR2MQncAksikY0QZRVk https://www.thenational.scot/news/19259525.experts-counter-claim-eu-will-reject-scotland-budget-deficit/?fbclid=IwAR0-K4XbGwn8YX6NwmijrYs9038vFFTDsi61BhWdSwgg-UXefHSDpSKL2SE Ouch! Ah well, if the Scottish want to inflict austerity on theirselves no one will stop them The only way to set up a new currency - spend your way into it. Oh yeah, all those projects - HS2, Serco Track and Trace. We wouldn’t have to fund them. A percentage of our tax money go to these vanity English projects which wouldn’t touch Scotland. The kingdom still sends up more money to Scotland than Scotland collects in Taxes so you are still gaining more than if you were funding your own projects on your own. Our economy is worth 200 billion, I think and we only get 30 billion to Holyrood. Together You And I!

Have you read the Copenhagen criteria? The figures that are normally produced are from spending based on UK spending for Scotland. It’s not a true representation of an Indy Scotland. Plenty of other similar sized countries are successful independent countries. You are telling me, a country like Scotland which has an abundance of natural resources and amazing talents cannot go it alone. Together You And I! I wish them the best tho! Oh I second this, I’m not anti independence for them but I think breaking the union to become a smaller voice in a bigger bloc with harsher rules isn’t the best direction. I’ve always said I can see the EU changing course soon and become less political, wouldn’t be surprised if the UK “rejoined” if that was the case. We would be a voice like any other country in the EU. For example every single country gets a veto on anything that is proposed. We don’t get that in the “union of equals” Together You And I!
