I hate this forum. i agree it was horrible, it should of never happened. So stop insituating I’m glad she is dead. Why would she be chasing the girl to stab her when there was a cop waiting to help. You don’t realize how stuff actually works, cops are spoused to neutralize threats to life, which in this situation she was armed and wasn’t stopping. if that girl was going to stab you, you would’ve wanted to the cop to shoot her. it was a horrible situation and cops need more training. There’s plenty of videos of people going up to cops and shooting them for no reason and I’m sure you’re all in favor of that

I don't agree with anyone being killed for my life. I would have wanted them to physically restrain and I probably would have tried myself if I was in that situation (but I wasn't so it's irrelevant). They are already wearing protective gear so at worst they should have tazed her (which I also don't agree with outside of extreme situations), ideally they would have training to physically restrain her. I highly doubt your last point too, people don't just randomly shoot cops unless there is something wrong with them. Cut the billions dollars spent on militarizing the police and reinvest it into supporting communities so people can live lives where randomly shooting people is not a thing they feel is reasonable to do, and you have to be living a pretty destitute existence for that to be the case. In hindsight, it’s easy to list out the proper steps, but in the middle of an escalated emergency you don’t have the time to think. i agree the child should be alive, and we need to stop leaving children unattended to become victims. Why was that child left alone so she could be jumped, where is the parenting? so I’m assuming the next time someone is trying to harm or rob you, you won’t call 911 right? Because from what you’re describing that would be the worst thing to do.

Because from what you’re describing that would be the worst thing to do. I have literally never called 911 so no I wouldn't, if someone is harming me I remove myself from the situation. And I have nothing that anyone would try to rob. I don't live in fear of a crime boogeyman like suburban people do, I live amongst people supposedly statistically more likely to commit crime (poor people) and I have been safe the entire time. That said I don't know what I would do because I have never had anything stolen besides random stuff out of my pockets. Idk what I would do if someone robbed my entire apartment because nothing like that has ever happened to me, but I certainly would never want someone to die in the name of my stuff. If shooting someone four times is what one does without thinking in an emergency, they should not have a gun. Why would you blame the parents, the police are responsible for her death. Parents call their cops on their own kids pretty often actually. You don't know what is going on in their lives to say they should have been there, apparently she was in foster care so there could be a myriad of reasons. Where were the parents of all the white boys that committed all the gun massacres in the US? A lot of them were scared of their own children or even among their victims. This whole situation is inexcusable and I can't believe anyone would ever try to argue the other side. If you actually cared about this issue you'd recognize the multiple factors that actually need to be addressed to fix this, poverty, lack of funding for social programs, over funding the police, lack of police training etc.

What so cops in countries where they are not armed with guns do in this situation? Use a taser or physically restrain the perpetrator. If a random person was stabbing me that means they're clearly mentally ill and need help. I don't think they deserve to die for that. This hypothetical is useless anyway because I don't value my own life more than others at all. Most people don't feel that way so I get I am in the minority, but my point is no one deserves to die in these situation, the cops should be trying to avoid loss of life (by protecting the victim and not indiscriminately murdering the perpetrator). Yes there are situations where killing may be necessary, but not nearly as frequently as it happens in the US.

I’m sure if someone house was broken into by a robber, and the cops would take 20 mins to get there I’m assuming you would rather have the robber kill the house owner, then the house owner use weapons in self defense. am i correct? There were so many different courses of actions. It's funny that you think abject poverty is a privilege, I can't afford dental care or basic mental health care. Like I said no one has tried to.murder me, but also if someone was say threatening me with violence I get the f*ck away from them. I don't fight people. Something like domestic violence is a different situation but the cops statistically do not help with that. What helps with that is having programs that support people experiencing DV and set them up with shelter and resources so they can remove themselves from that situation. Ideally they also get a restraining order but that doesn't always work out either bc the legal system is pretty misogynistic more often than not. See how rape & assault cases play out. Decentralization is actually a pretty good idea lol and you're being completly hyperbolic and ridiculous. The autonomous zones set up after George Flloyd's death were constantly provoked and harassed by the police and white supremacists, aside from that it was people giving each other free food, water, and medical help as well as other resources. Not some Republican's nightmare of a free society where everyone is burning down banks and having an*l lol. Idk what you want me to say to that last point, from my view centrists are completely delusional and out of touch. Especially if the only solution you see to any altercation is someone getting shot four times in the chest while white boys that go on mass shooting sprees continue to be gently arrested by the cops and offered fast food while detained.
