I agree but to be more concise...

Effectively Regulate them ...

It was a republican congressmen (or senator, I forget) that made the comparison between shooters and drunk drivers.

Well, for cars, we have speed limits, dozens of nation wide road laws, laws against DUI, license requirements, license renewals, driving tests, driving records that could prevent you from legally driving again, liability insurance laws, other suggested insurances, the list goes on and on.

The problem is our legislators need to stop pretending the 2nd amendment gives people the inalienable right to own a firearm and any attempt to regulate guns is an "assault on constitutional freedom". It GAVE people the right to form a well regulated militia in a young country where guns were low powered, single shot, and inaccurate. A person was just as likely to die from an infected gunshot wound as the gunshot wound itself :rip:

Ban large clips.

Ban certain modifications like bump stocks.

Ban ALL assault weapons.

Make the private sale of guns a felony. Close gun show sales down for good, slap them with the felony charge if needed.

Prevent felons, even former felons, from EVER owning a gun. In 11 states you get automatic renewal of gun ownership "rights" after serving your time and in most other states you can be reviewed and have them granted back. Stop that sh*t.

Have either law enforcement or an independent agency handle background checks instead of the retailer doing them.

Have a mandatory 2 week waiting period for ALL firearms, no exceptions.

Require not only a permit and license but also liability insurance. Make it mandatory. No exceptions.

Require carry permits and licenses to be updated at least as frequently as a driver's license.

And finally, Bill O'Reily is right, make ALL forms of gun crime a felony.

Just a few ideas. They need to crack down hard on the NRA and misinformation as well.

You missed the whole point ...

pat yourself on the back all you want ...

How am I missing the point? Many many many countries have heavy gun regulations. They are no need to have guns in this day in age. I don’t even like the guns laws here in Scotland. I wish all guns were taken off people

Lots of automobile homicides ...

should we ban those too?

the logic here doesn't piece together

I know you’re smarter than that. Automobiles are far more important than a gun is to our society. Are you gonna glock your way to work? Pistol the lettuce from California to Utah?

I would say all the dead kids say you do.

Banning guns works, regulating guns doesn’t. The big issue is Americans for some reason think part of their identity is attached to war machines + of course white terrorists.

Banning guns is not a feasible goal in the US. It will never happen.

Like, if I could wave a magic wand and make all guns disappear I would. But we live in the real world :spin:

It happened in the UK. My Grandpa worked in a foundry during the 90s and he said millions of guns was melted down for metal.

The UK isn't the US

I agree with y'all, I wish it would work, but a ban just isn't a possibility here and we should stop pretending it is

It could change if they are the will power to change it.

Our best chance is to start limiting manufacturing, regulate sales including who can buy and how many guns are sold by vendors. Then we have to invest in gun safety education and invest in the mental health crisis that is leading to so much violence. The goal would be to shift the culture in our country. Banning isn’t gonna happen. At least not in this decade or the next probably. At least not without a lot of ugly clashing.

It won't :spin:

Also, I just looked it up. There's still 1.3 million licensed shotguns and 535,000 legally licensed guns of other types in the UK. That's hundreds of thousands of gun owners so idk what you mean by "ban guns"

I think the best goal would be to adopt Japan's laws in time tbh.

I’m here for any steps to eventually get rid of the cancer of US society

They are heavy gun regulation in the UK. Massive background checks, need to a valid purpose, kept in a locker etc.
All I know is the last mass shooting in Scotland was in 1996

That's not a ban, those are regulations which is what I'm saying the US needs

I view it as a ban. I hope one day the UK will just take guns off each and every single person.

HEARTSTOP

I honestly don't understand the fascination with guns. Why does the US need 1.2 guns for every person? It's just insane.

For those saying it's impossible to control guns...well, if you don't do anything, then for sure nothing's gonna happen. Maybe put that insane amount of money invested into police and the military to use, and make those professionals do their job. Make them enforce the gun control laws instead of just sitting around all day eating donuts and killing black people.

I'd even say to mind your own country's business with controlling weapons before you go to the middle east and try to control their weapons and to provide them some on the not-so-down-low.

k ... seems like a rationally thought out attempt to curtail gun violence in a realistic way...

I can't see penalizing legit recreational gun owners but regulations to prevent violence is definitly  needed...

agreed..

As far as which party politician compared cars to guns,... , you should know by now I'm not a party based opinion poster...

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true
