Even though I disagree that this is something that she should be reaching out towards, the majority of the world does not speak French and will end up pronouncing La Rue and La Roux the same. Copyright, trademark, and intellectual property are a thing regardless of where someone charts. A stage name is still a brand name and is subject to those kinds of restrictions and protections. Those identities being too phonetically similar are grounds for law suits.
