I know but the guy was making out that she was selling out a great few, when it was just one tenth, but i get the point.

Unfortunatley it is the singles that live on. We dont hear of the bealtes' album sales or their tours. It is the singles that we hear in longetivity.

"Katy Perry's album Teenage Dream has been a pop smash, and boasts songs like, "E.T." (featuring Kanye West), "Firework," "California Gurls" (featuring Snoop Dogg), "Last Friday Night (TGIF)," and "Teenage Dream," all of which went number one on the Billboard charts.

It's been 53 years since Billboard launched their music charts, and in five decades only Michael Jackson boasted the achievement of five number one records on his Bad album."

You must also remember BTW was 99 cents on amazon, like the week it came out

bear in mind i dont think she can even sing well, but i respect her for her achievements. Why does gaga not release her other songs?

I have no respect for someone who got most of those number ones and album sales by collaborating with other successful artist. Call me when she gets 5 number ones and 8 hits on her own without help.

ANd please no one is gonna remember those cheesy songs in 10 yrs.

I won't be satisfied until I hear all 50 songs. :nails:

She's gotta save something for her posthumous albums.

Seriously, I read once (I don't know where, it was awhile ago) that record companies require musicians to leave some songs unreleased in case they end up dying. Why do you think we get so many albums from musicians after they die?

You're right, I never thought of that before!!!

Maybe really she has written 50 songs, but after edited, mixed, and sync everything there're only 15 in total....

Joking :lolgaga:

Thats cool but "wrote" 50 doesn't mean she recorded 50 so it doesn't necessarily mean that she would be adding that many to the list of unreleased that we don't have.

Except the Beatles are considered legends because of their entire catalog, not just radio singles. it's their experimental work and willingness to change things up that kept them legendary even in their own time and built them into rock icons. I guarantee you most people will recognize more Beatles songs than just their singles, and certainly many songs that are not singles are played by radio stations that still play Beatles material.

I was actually thinking about this the other day. The labels obviously know that once an artist dies, their sales soar. I'm sure that Gaga has plenty of unreleased songs that will be released in that way one day (hopefully not soon, of course). She will probably use some of these songs in future albums, and others will be piled in the secret vault for a long time.

Totally. I'd assume they start with any songs the musician had recorded for their planned album, then go over some demos, polish them up and work on those, but I also remember reading that they take full unreleased recordings that could be years ago. I believe they did this for the Michael Jackson album, probably a few others. It's probably in the contract that they leave behind some songs as a "just in case" kind of thing, and if the artist doesn't die (lol) they may just go into the vault.

I've never really liked the idea of posthumous albums. An album is an artist's vision. It's nice to have a bunch of songs we otherwise never would have heard, but if it's not made by Gaga, it just isn't the same. Like when all these rappers and producers take an original recording and retool and add their bits -- it's all for the money, not from the heart, because like you said, execs know that sales boom when a musician dies.

We all need to be patient and give GaGa and the label our patience.

I can feel it in my bones..ARTPOP will be her best album.

There's a reason why "Its worth the wait"

Wow. If she has written that many then what she could do is when a single releases create a little package for each one for the fans of the single + a song that didn't make it to the album! I would love that.
