If you want something more authentic then get Italian cinema to make a movie about it and support non Hollywood films. 

I don't disagree with your last point, but I also don't think it hurts that Hollywood can/should support foreign actors and creatives as well. I mean, Parasite won Best Picture at the Oscars last year and that was a big moment for Asian representation (both for Asian Americans and Asian foreigners). Hollywood can both support non-Hollywood films and non-American actors/creatives.

I feel like people are thinking its going to sound like that stereotypical pizzeria mama mia italian accent. I think if it’s not over-exaggerated it would be great. We’ve heard Gaga speak with the accent recently (forget which red carpet) and she sounded pleasant.

second thing is it doesn’t have to be perfect. I can’t even name people I know that can distinguish a true Italian accent from a fake one. And I’m pretty much sure that 90+% of the viewers won’t as well.

When people become interested in this story because of the film and look up this woman and see this clip this is exactly what Gaga should sound like. 

This is her speaking English. But in her daily life she spoke italian, not english with an accent, so Gaga doing so would not be "historically accurate." It would be accurate if she did the film on italian.

thats actually cool and makes the movie more special, why are people hating? yikes  it's not like the director was like "OK so you will have to do an italian accent during the movie" and then go for it. they obviously have to practise and make it sound good. it's like when they shoot scenes for the movie. they do it a lot of times.

Considering there were MANY people here saying that ASIB was going to flop and that Gaga would get Razzies for her performance, I'm not taking the "cringe" comments seriously. 

They very likely have linguists on set to train them for proper Italian accents. I highly doubt they're going to be waving their hands and talking about "a-spicy meat-a-ball-sa!"
