Katy Perry's Christian parents spent $178K of donations on retreats

Katy Perry's preacher parents spent 96% of donations to their charity on expenses including 'retreats' at exclusive Marriott Hotels, flights, meals and cars, charity filings reveal.

Keith and Mary Hudson run a religious charity, Keith Hudson Ministries, hosting conferences in Hawaii and San Diego and 'Prophetic Nights', where Mary speaks in tongues and claims to heal members of the audience.

Documents the charity filed with the IRS this month show that in 2019 it raised $185,679 – but spent $178,046 of it on expenses.

The ministry paid out $6,900 for 'occupancy' including hotel stays according to the filing, $8,799 for 'travel' such as air fares, $5,516 for 'auto expenses' and $7,620 for 'meals' – averaging at over $600 per month.

The Santa Barbara, California-based Hudsons also list $84,058 for 'conference expenses', $12,112 for 'other expenses' and $19,448 for 'tithes and offerings'.

After raising $185,679, the charity was left with just $7,633 cash at the end of the year.

This is why when i wanna help causes i prefer to help individuals directly whether it be a homeless person or if i find out about someone in need

 

Charities (in general not just religious ones) so often get caught using donations poorly or selfishly by ppl managing it and in general i dont trust the vast majority of them

Unfortunately this means a lot of people will judge Katy for this, when it's her parents life and not her decision to do this. I think this is disgusting behaviour, but I suspect a lot of charities out there have had this happen at some point. If there is a way to exploit something, there will always be someone who does it.

It happens A LOT and thats just stuff that gets uncovered and gets reported on nevermind the stuff missed

 

I have trust issues with charities in general for this reason and thats why i prefer to do my good deeds on more personal levels where i know for sure any money im spending on someone is ACTUALLY going towards them

hmmm... Do u guys remember that post on Katy's instagram where her dad was talking about wanting to sell t-shirts/merch ? Something with "american" ... can't remember... let's just say last time I checked that insta account didn't exist anymore.

 

Maybe they are having financial difficulties and don't wanna ask their daughter for cash... (not saying that this is ok in any way! It's not... it's really bad!!)

 

Remember when Gaga had that podcast interview and she said "how proud" her dad is of his business... meaning that they don't want to take money from their own kids because they are too proud...especially fathers are like that I believe

I am pretty sure she just did it because he asked her and she couldn't say no because it's her father.... I know these struggles all too well

Their website doesn't say how they spend these money. Only sth like "we do whatever we can do to reach this generation with the simple gospel" and that they invite women in domestic violence shelters to conferences. 
It is just weird that people donate to them.

They offer book, breakfast with them, hotel room for donation so maybe some of these costs are for donators.
