And it is currently trending at 67-85% efficacy on 1 dose and 2nd dose in 12 weeks then makes it even better. The Oxford vaccine has been tested at 12 weeks interval between shots and shown to be the most effective way of producing immune response. 2 minutes ago, numb the flame said: pretend as if it's 75% on their first dose, 25% on their second dose. Don't use those percentages as the truth I'm just using them to explain. Ahh, thanks for explaining! I assumed that you'd need both doses for it to be effective. Wouldn't it be needed for the majority of the population to get both doses before lockdown is eased?

So I would put all my sales through the government portal at the end of the week and they would pay the difference, it helped MASSIVELY my restaurants were full (limited capacity still) everyday it was available. It was a nationwide scheme advertised everywhere, it was a real boost for our industry. But it almost certainly boosted community spread and was more than likely instrumental in the tier system and restrictions being reintroduced. Oh Well i see a policy like this making sense in the early days of recovery. Like once the main danger has mostly subsided but some individuals might still be reluctant to go out and this would encourage it Or when the danger is worse maybe do the same but only for takeout Other than that i think direct support to small businesses make more sense than this (especially for those where takeout capacity might be limited). The whole point of restrictions was to mitigate spread in the first place so why go to the other extreme right after and encourage even more indoor traffic than with no restrictions at all would already provide? I think its a policy that could make sense at a later date if when things are safe to go back to normal some individuals innitially are too reluctant to still go out and hold back recovery for a while But at this stage other types of relief would make more sense to me

Not particularly as the majority of the population aren't at risk of being hospitalised and even less at risk of death. The idea is to reduce the stress on the healthcare system, their are vulnerable categories, the top 4 categories have now had a shot which will help massively. The top 4 vulnerable groups are responsible for 80 percent of deaths and 50 percent of hospitalisations. The next 5 vulnerable categories make up almost the rest of it. And all of these groups should of had their first shot at least, by the end of April. Once that is done it would be hard to argue a case to keep lockdown measures in place. I expect them to be relaxed alot coming into may. But social distancing still in place.

But the grants and loans don't totally cover all the outgoings. Not all landlords of my restaraunt sites have paused or reduced payments. I have 6 and 2 of them are paused completely. 3 are running at a reduced amount and one I'm paying full whack. If the eat out scheme didn't happen. I would of almost certainly shut at least 1 down by now to reduce costs. And the problem is that half the help is loans, I will have to pay it back. Businesses always seem to get loans not much grants unlike the people Thats why i often dont accept arguments against bailouts that its tax payers giving away money to Corporate bailouts. Its not technically a giveaway if its a loan that has to get payed back. Small businesses often dont end up getting much more generous help either despite being more vulnerable

LGMonster95 13,704
That's amazing. Meanwhile my country (Romania) so far has vaccinated 700.000 people with the first does and we're like at 430.000 with the 2nd dose. Since we are like 19m people overall I guess that's ok? Anyway I've heard that we are going to get more vaccines starting from March so we should move faster

If we continue with that speed of vaccination we need 4 years until everybody is vaccinated. Same here in Canada. We're falling behind, Trudeau keeps saying we're on track but that's not true. It's weird because initially we were one of the countries that had secured the most doses. A this rate we won't see the back of this sh*tstorm for years
