PunkTheFunk 123,895
Because we realized ARTPOP didn't damage Gaga's career as much as we thought it would. In fact, her career thrived after it. Imagine Gaga's career had been permanently damaged after ARTPOP and every single thing she did since then flopped hard. Would the fans still love it as much? I don't think so. She was overexposed, people were tired of her and she became an easy punching bag. I am happy that you brought this up. Can this please end? Like with Britney, Damita Jo, ARTPOP, American Life, Erotica, Reputation, Witness, etc. can we please stop choosing to use women's public perspectives as reasons to hate their work? (Blackout is one of the only outliers that I can think of.) You almost never see this happen with men. Look at Kanye's work after revealing that he supported Trump for a bit. he/him/his

Quartz 11,923
I still think it's her weakest album. People love it suddenly? Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊
Zeth 929
I think it’s a combination of a few things, but mostly, the sound was ahead of its time. She was working with an EDM sound that, in my view, we really didn’t start hearing until around the time she released Joanne. Another important reason is it took time for people to really realize Gaga is not a typical run of the mill artist. The current public perception of her is more refined and renowned than it was back then, so to listen to ARTPOP, where she is singing with such raw emotion and lyrics... it feels way more special. SevenWonder 4,018
One of my best friends was a huge Gaga fan back in the day. I wasn't necessarily. I liked her, thought Bad Romance was great, but she wasn't somebody I paid much attention to. But then my friend played me Applause. Then I heard Aura and really freaked out. I was super into punk as a teen and Aura had this crazy punk energy. Long story short, ARTPOP made me a stan and it will forever be my fav. Glad others are coming around - now, yesterday or whenever.
