Luckily there are some wonderful small bakeries that make fresh, delicious cakes for prices I see as reasonable for holidays. I’m not a fan of mass produced cakes, but finding a local gem of a bakery that can make an unbelievable treat for a special occasion makes birthdays more exciting imo. Making a cake yourself is better and more meaningful, but that’s the next best option for people like me who have very little kitchen space

You're not wrong lol but I will say the draw of DQ cakes is that they're ice cream 'cakes', not typical baked cakes. So imagine shaping some ice cream and soft serve and sprinkling on some chocolate crunchies and covering it all with frosting It's excessive like most of our food here lol, but in a different way from other store-bought baked cakes, in that you usually wouldn't make ice cream 'cake' for yourself at home I guess.

My last memory of DQ cake is like 15+ years old but it just tasted like frozen sugar with a hint of cocoa every now and then. It's a hit for kids' parties because of that, as you could imagine

People making a huge deal out of everything as always.  I'm neutral on this, if I were the customer I would've wanted them to do it if it's customized but understand that it's kind of a dark humor and not everyone gets it. Then as an employee I wouldn't want to seem like homophobic and get dragged or fired so I understand both sides.
