Tomorrow we have our presidencial elections which should have been delayed at least 6 months, the only form of voting here is going to the voting booth in person. This makes no sense. Not to mention that the presidential candidates where campaigning going around the country while the population had to stay home. Ppl have to get their stuff especially their essential items. Restricting hours simply means stuffing more people in fewer hours instead of spread out so how does that help exactly? Seems more like one of those things governments do that make no sense and its just to make it look like they are doing something Some Provinces here in Canada including my own made simmilar hour restrictions. To me Portugal is an example of how government policy alone doesnt dictate everything and governments cant take all the blame all the time and theres a certain responsibility on the population too to also follow guidelines I whatch the Portuguese news a lot and overall their restrictions have consistently been stricter than in Canada most of the time I suspect theres a few reasons why it got so bad despite consistent restrictions: #1 the population is one of the oldest in the world with lots of seniors. They are more likely to get very sick and show obvious symptoms #2 theres a lot of old people especially in rural areas with a mentality to brush stuff like this off. I dont know why but its a thing #3 Portugal may only have 10 Million people but its small in size. Some areas are quite dense and population density doesnt help with outbreaks #4 Portugal has close ties with all 3 Countries where worse variants were found. UK cuz of close relations with EU (despite brexit), and South Africa and Brazil have a lot of Portuguese immigrants that come back abd fourth so Portugal got ALL new variants early. At work we were send home for two weeks so I'm working as a volunteer at a nursery home since Thursday afternoon, most of the staff is infected and only two old ladies from the old adults living there escaped the covid infection. It's so many people to dress, to feed to change diapers... And only 4 people working the shift from 7 am to 7 pm. I'm freaking tired, it's hard work, and with all the protection equipment I feel like suffocating, and scared if already got covid too. Even Countries that are doing a bit better are struggling a lot with nursing homes In my Province here in Canada (Ontario) even before numbers got bad, like when we were getting only like 300 to 400 cases a day (for a population of nearly 15 million people) something insane like 40% of nursing homes already had outbreaks or active cases They are like a magnet for spreading this illness Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ok so in Lisbon u guys have amazing roads but they go up then down up and down,and the the sidewalk is made of a very slippery pavement that only portuguese people seem to be able to walk on. I had to hold the wall to not fall, while an old portuguese man helped me get up as I eventually fell down to the floor, then id see a woman with high heels on walking like shes not bothered and id ask myself HOW????
