BUtterfield 8 41,818
If you’ve ever fantasized about doing to a building what Donald Trump did to the country, now’s your chance. Atlantic City is auctioning off the rights to blow up the derelict Trump Plaza casino, with proceeds benefitting the local Boys & Girls Club. Earlier this year, huge chunks of the facade fell off and tumbled to the ground below, and the building reportedly sheds additional debris during bad storms. Since it’s a safety hazard, demolition has already begun. But the official implosion is scheduled for January 29th. “On his way out,” Mayor Marty Small said, “Donald Trump openly mocked Atlantic City, saying he made a lot of money and then got out. I wanted to use the demolition of this place to raise money for charity.” The Boys & Girls Club is hoping that the auction will fetch more than $1 million. I stay away from there. Lots of drug activity and high crime. I don’t understand why so many people enjoy going there. There also other parts of Atlantic County which are nice, though. My mom was able to obtain an apartment a few blocks from the casinos, but it was still depressing to live there. Most tourists stay on the boardwalk or in the casinos and would't notice it, unless they ventured too far. My bf was living at home with his mom in Manhattan, so I would take the Greyhound bus twice a week to New York just to escape. I'm now living in LA and about to go back to school, so I'm doing much better.

CatelynnMarie 4,536
Trump actually had two casinos there: Trump Plaza and Trump Taj Mahal. I used to go to AC with family often and just enjoy the hotel and other amenities. Gamble a bit, but it was mainly a “getaway”. I stayed at the Plaza a couple times but mostly it was other casinos. Taj was a scary place. One visit, someone got shot there. Terrible terrible stuff and so sad. OT, I feel like maybe it would be best to demolish the Plaza and create something new to benefit the city and it’s people. Something that will be a constant beneficiary. Idk what that could be right now honestly, but to just demolish the building and let it go to charity, while a good thing, only helps for a certain amount of time. Something that could constantly be a benefit would be better long term, if that makes sense idk. As stated above, the city for the most part has almost always been a really sad place. It at one time long ago was great, but in the end it destroyed itself. It makes me terribly sad
