If you look at the whole story — any good story — the hero is an imperfect hero, you know what I’m saying? We don’t do everything right. The real story here is the fact that the people organized to make a change.” Reading up on his background it looks like Pete may have had some hiccups when it came to his South Bend reconstruction projects and housing development. I think the important thing here is that every sane person makes mistakes, every first tome mayor is gonna make mistakes. But if you look at what he believes in and what he did as his time as Mayor (incredible job on infrastructure and housing/urban development) I think he’s perfectly capable. If y’all hate Pete you must hate Biden too given this mindset? Minimizing human suffering of homeless people by saying people make mistakes is egregious. He wants money out of big politics, he’s pro abortion rights, he wants to rejoin the Paris Agreement, he wants to decriminalize marijuana...and back in 2019 he proposed the “Douglass Plan”. He’s also anti capitol punishment. He doesn't support getting money out of politics. He took more money from billionaires and corporate donors in the primary than almost any other candidate. He also claimed to support legalizing marijuana, but his police force actively went after people, mostly Black people, for marijuana when he was in power. The rest of the things that you listed are supported by almost every Democrat in office. I'll give you several reasons why the left despises the guy below. 1 hour ago, Togekiss said: Don’t ask them for reasons, all they’ve got is “he looks like a rat” and “he’s not as far to the left as humanly possible”. Some of us are interested in progressive (he is based on policy, don’t even try to argue) No one who knows anything about Pete Buttigieg would earnestly attempt to claim that the guy is even remotely progressive. But since you asked for reasons, I'll give them to you. He aggressively mishandled the killing of a Black man in his town by police, which was condemned by members of his community and by Black Lives Matter. It was so abysmal that they called on him to resign, multiple times. He lied about having the support of various Black politicians and community leaders that had to come out and publicly say that they never endorsed him or his Douglas plan, which was derided as a mediocre and desperate attempt to pander to Black voters due to his routinely polling at 0% with Black voters nationally. He supported economic policies in his town that decimated public housing and low-income residences that largely housed Black residents, which pushed many of them out to the outskirts of the city. He also presided over a police force that was routinely criticized by activists for targeting Black residents, and his approach to dealing with that police force involved firing (and then later simply demoting, after significant backlash) the town's first Black police chief for recording white officers calling him racial slurs. -He was also called out by local Black politicians for not respecting Black residents' struggles. He aggressively attacked Medicare for All and universal healthcare, which is supported by 88% of Democrats and half of Republicans. He worked at McKinsey prior to getting into politics, which is infamous for actively trying to increase OxyContin addictions for the sake of profits and for advising dictators around the world, and refused to tell anyone what he did there when he was running for president. His entire political persona was carefully calculated and empty; he adopted policies not because he believed in them, but because he was attempting to appeal to donors, and his speech and cadence was aped directly from President Obama, right down to one of his speeches that he essentially plagiarized. I could go on forever. This barely scratches the surface. The left hates him because he's a calculated fraud, an empty suit that stands for nothing, believes in nothing, and takes ungodly amounts of money from the very same corporate donors that he crafts his policies to attempt to please. You fundamentally misunderstanding social dems and their policies as “meanies to the left”, isn’t the serve you think it is.
