She probably will. But I have a feeling she’ll win a Nobel prize for peace.

I think so too.

Yes, there's a lot of money in that.

UMG made Vimeo remove one of my videos because I didn't have a license for the song.  When vacationing in Barbados I videoed a three-girl group performing covers of songs at an outdoor beach bar.  When my recording of one song was removed from Vimeo due to copyright infringement I contacted UMG.  They told me it's songs that are copyrighted, not performances of songs.  So any performance of a copyrighted song, even a cover at an outdoor beach bar, cannot be shared without my purchasing a license to use the song.  I learned a lot that day.

I would like to clarify what I learned about licensing music.  In my conversations with UMG, they said

"The issue here is that Vimeo, LLC – unlike our hundreds of other partners – has generally decided not to obtain licenses or pay for the use of our music on its platform, including cover versions of songs. This makes our music content available in a manner that deprives artists and songwriters of fair compensation and unfairly competes with licensed services that pay for music consumption.

We hope that you share our goal to assure our music creators are compensated fairly, and that you understand why we need to take these actions on their behalf.  We certainly understand any frustration you might have, but remain hopeful that Vimeo, LLC will license music so we can all enjoy the platform without these types of issues. Of course, in the meantime, we encourage you to post on licensed platforms."

Later I posted my videos of the Barbados group "Virgo" on Youtube instead of Vimeo.  To greatly limit the distribution of the videos I post them with a setting of "unlisted" so they cannot be found by the public doing searches.  While they received copyright claims on Youtube the only penalty is I am not allowed to monetize the videos (I never monetize any of my videos anyway), and the copyright holders are allowed to monetize the videos I posted if they wish.

If you are curious about the group singing at the beach bar in Barbados, here are three of the songs:

I mean, get ready for his classic hits gets ruined, I guess.

because they can get played in movies and on tv? because artists can get the rights to cover them and release it? none of these things could or should erase the song. If you don’t like it, don’t watch/hear it lol.

He clearly had nothing against it, since he sold them.
