Jealousy and a poor understanding of how a redistribution of wealth can lead to greater wealth equality, which discourages ambition and success, thus stunting the advancement of mankind.

I'm sorry, but wealth equality is a bad thing all of a sudden? Wealth inequality is the reason we are where we are today, and wealth inequality is tied to racism, xenophobia and etc. If there had been no massive hoarding of wealth, we would be much more advanced and better as a species, not to mention we would've progressed immeasurably. Also that is very classist and privileged to say; some people are living off of $1 a day, while Elon Musk alone is worth $500bn. And yes, I know that he doesn't have all of the money in his bank, but he has a pretty hefty chunk of it.

And I'm sorry to say but if your ambition is fueled by money and crazy amounts of wealth, you are doing it wrong. Elon, Jeff, Bill's main goal isn't to "help the mankind" and "let's colonize space" - it's to get filthy rich. The other stuff is just the positive byproduct.

There's a difference between trying to punish the wealthy or banning profits with borderline communist ideals vs wanting more fairness

Wealth inequality has been rising steadily since the 1970s and gains in productivity are barely being felt by the middle class with almost all the gains going to the top

U don't need the people at the very top to have thousands of times the net worth of the average person to encourage hard work and drive. Decades ago wealth inequality wasn't this massive and it didn't stop hard work

In fact entrepreneurship and small business creation has been at all time lows. I think a lot of ppl give up when inequality gets this high. It ends up being unmotivating when the big corps monopolize everything or trying to build something from scratch is almost impossible to compete these days

I'm not a fan of extreme left policies. I'm not sold on the levels of taxation politicians like AOC or Bernie Sanders want and I do believe if fully implemented to the level they want it would cross a threshold that would do more harm than good

But there's no reason Billionaires should be paying LOWER average tax rates than the upper middle class. Capital gains being taxes lower than income is not free market or a level playing field, it's literally chrony capitalism in favour of the rich that can keep compounding their wealth with no effort sitting on their asses

At the very least tax capital gains a more fair rate so the rich don't keep getting everything. And that money can be used for useful things like infrastructure or healthcare or education

Again I don't even consider myself a leftist and Corporations and the successful have their critical role to play and people need to have drive and I acknowledge that. But certain things are clearly corrupt and not a fair level playing field

I actually used to be MORE Right Winged many years ago. Like @Luc I also moved a bit further to the left as my understanding of economics grew because I wasn't just looking at business alone but other factors of the big picture as well that in a full circle affect the entire economy and people, and the free market to be blunt is also not a perfect balancing system of resource allocation nor is it a system that perfectly rewards everyone proportionally to their efforts. If it was some perfectly fair system that said for X amount of effort and work u get rewarded X amount then I'd have full confidence in it for fairness and oppurtunity but it doesn't quite work that way
