Jesy from Little Mix announces extended time off from Little Mix

It seems like a pattern with these  big groups from UK

- Spice Girls were always said to press and fans that Geri were not well and so she took some time off when Geri actually already left and SG were not sure if she is actually left yet.

- 1D also said Zayn were not well when he spotted going back to UK in middle of their tour before announcing he actually left the group 

 

I hope Jesy is OK but I, personally, won't be surprised if there is official announcement of her leaving LM at the end of this.

I read an article a few days ago by a fan who basically accumulated 'sort of' evidence that the label is ushering her out of the group and have somebody in line to replace her once it's been a while, with like statements from somebody who had done a 'secret' audition for the group in January.

I dont know if this would be their attempt to add more hype and attention to them and their future music like more people will listen and be like "is she as good as Jesy? Does this work?" and not to be dark, but they could sexualize the group a hell of a lot more as Jesy is not a 'standard' beauty, although I think she is.

I'll try and find it and add to this as I was in one of those blog rabbit holes and am always on private browsing (tehe) but its not coming up on google, I hope its not true! But the same happened to the group 'Sugababes' years ago which is another UK girl group, US fans probably dont know them but when they replaced the 'weak link' it did add so much to the hype of them, like their fan base wouldn't turn their back on them for having to replace someone who is "too ill"

It might be somewhat work for Sugababes, since the member change was early, though in the end it didn't work at all when all the original members left.

Hence I am not sure if that will ever work for LM. Since they are coming from reality show in the same season hence fans already view them as the sacred part of the set, no outsiders allowed. And it's been 6 albums too late for doing that. That new unwanted member will stand out like a sore thumb, and that will be bad PR wise.

Sugababes were never as successful as Little mix before they added and changed members in fairness, and it got to a point where it was essentially an entirely different group with their name. I think even if they do replace Jesy and nobody else jumped ship, they wouldnt lose popularity, even if they're initially unwanted it would still be an addition in some form, without Jesy there would always be something missing.
 

Also in regards to the actual singing, they need certain registers to harmonise properly, it might be even just a case of completing the voice rather than about some intial PR. I wouldnt mind a new member at all I just hope that it isnt actually a label thing like I read, its just the business is pretty cruel (gaga fans know that more than anyone)

This would NEVER happen with Little Mix, they would not bring anyone else in ever. They are literally best of friends, I think if Jesy leaves during this era they will not continue on. They've always said if one of them leaves they will not stay together.

That's the beauty of Little Mix, their genuine friendship - there is no way they'd agree to someone else joining the band.

Not to be the devil's advocate here, but whilst their friend is battling a personal illness, they still went out and performed without her, so you can never really say what happens if she leaves until it happens.
