I wouldn't call "ballad" a genre in terms of instrumentation, but rather y specific type of song like "up-beat", "love song" etc.

Often, but upbeat EDM can be timeless too. The production just has to be be greatly thought

Arguably yes but I don't think it's a good thing.

'Timeless' just means it's safe, unadventurous and scared to use the new technology/sounds that are available to them at the time.

No. For a song to be timeless, it has to be good and recognisable to many many people. Many can be ballads, but equally many can be pop or dance or reggae or rock n roll.

For example, I'll Never Love Again and Shallow are timeless ballads. But even though Music To My Eyes is a ballad, its not timeless. I don't think there's any particular genre that's more timeless than the others.

To me, timeless just means that you listen to the song and, except for the recording quality because the technology can't be helped, you couldn't tell when the song was made, now or decades ago, because it doesn't belong to one specific genre or trend.

Thank you lol. Just because there’s a piano doesn’t mean it’s a ballad
