Lana Del Rey nominated for a Grammy according to Andre Leon Talley

How does anyone know of nominations at this time? Aren't they announced in December? And more to the point, it just got released last week. The submission cut-off date was August 1st. I don't understand this. But either way, I'm hoping she might have a big chance in this category as she may well be the most famous name. A Grammy's a Grammy, even if it is for a spoken word album, which I don't consider to be music. I just want to see her win something.

How do you know she'll even win it or that it will be her only win ever? And even if you don't regard it as music, it's still a Grammy. Do you consider Gaga's Oscar not worth counting because she won it for a song and not for acting?

You do realise that lots of acclaimed artists have never won Grammys? They're notorious for being biased towards Americans and it's very hard to win an award if you aren't. Bjork, Kate Bush, Nick Cave, etc. are all highly acclaimed artists and always have been yet have never won Grammys and even struggle to get nominations. Up until Fiona Apple's album this year, Nick Cave's 2019 album had the highest MC score of all time yet it probably won't get so much as a nomination, just like how the previous album was also rated in the 90's but didn't get anything either. The Grammys are also heavily a popularity contest with your likelihood of winning far higher if you're commercially successful. If Lana was at #1 and selling millions upon millions, she'd probably have around 3 or 4 Grammys by now.

All Hitler comparisons aside, isn't it a more limited view of the world to stop supporting people just because they do one thing you don't like? And Lana is not anti-mask, she has worn masks correctly before, she just made an mistake taking a fashion statement too far on this one occasion.

If she ain't anti-mask, then I have to believe it from her actions. You can't help people getting turned off by what she did. I think policing the emotions of others regarding the issue is counterproductive. But yeah, that's all I have to say regarding the issue.

It's not a weird obsession, we're just fans. So, are you exaggerating your viewpoint for effect? By the way, most people here slammed her for that mask, very few defended it, even her own fans, so I don't know where you get the idea that we were all supportive.

Are you saying that you don't believe she's anti mask because of this one mistake or you do think this one mistake reflects her view about masks all the time? Because I don't know quite what you're implying with the first sentence. I'm not trying to police your emotions, just asking you to delve into your beliefs a bit more and see another perspective.
