They did this because earlier only pop girls used to win all the dance categories and all the lesser known DJs were snubbed.

That actually makes sense tbh.

On one hand a lot of people complain that deserving artists get snubbed, but if it's lesser known Djs that we don't know are given the opportunity we might complain that "main" artists are getting snubbed.

Albums and songs can qualify for the dance categories only if a DJ is the lead credit. For example if the song was Stupid Love: Bloodpop ft. Lady Gaga.

What if Bloodpop produced AND sang a record, would it be eligible?

These are good submissions. I can see her winning the non-general field categories!

Also, I wish I could time travel to 2011 so they could submit BTW and TEOG for... well, anything :cryga:

3 points in and ready for more

Yes as long as he’s the lead credit he can do anything

If Fiona doesn't win Best Alternative Album :nails:

Inb4 Taylor is nominated and wins that category (Yes, there have been conversations about the possibility of a nomination for her)

But Gaga is a huge dance artist and she sets chart records in dance. It’s ridiculous to me that she is now shut out from a category that she is clearly a part of.  Aren’t most of her Grammys in the dance category?

She has 2 in the dance category but shes a pop artist. A subgenre, dance pop, will still fall under pop. Lana is an alt-pop singer but shes still in the pop category not the best alternative category. It can be confusing sure but the pop ones are more important which is why they get televised and why gaga got nominated for Pop Vocal Album for TFM but Dance album for TF

Thx for that. Hopefully she wins something. I really hope she has a shot at an open field category finally. Folklore seems to be the fave for AOTY but I do think gaga still has a shot, and especially for ROM and record or song of the year.

She will definitely get nominations across-the-board but in my opinion the only one im positive she will win is best Pop/Duo performance.

So if Gaga produced a whole record by herself she could win?

Sadly no, because Gaga is not a DJ or an EDM exclusive artist like Skrillex.

It won’t qualify for dance album because the rules have been changed.

What? Ugh, why? What are the new rules?

Wtf :cyanlights:

Yeah I remember this. The article said it was to be more inclusive and give others more of a chance for nominations and wins than just the A-list artists all the time

I don't remember the exact wording cuz this was years ago but it was something along those lines

Made sense at the time when dance was at its height and the mainstream but now in 2020 I'm not sure not having this rule would automatically make mainstream A-lists win all the time
