I partially agree. I feel like it was a publicity stunt from Madonna/Madonna's team, and Gaga was not part of it. It is honestly one of the reasons that lead to the way media treated her during the ending of the BTW era and the ARTPOP era, so I don't think Gaga agreed to this... and if she did :smh: poor girl, she had no idea this was going to be such a bad thing for her/her career. Gaga's proven to be very different from Madonna, but there are still people to this day who say she's just a copy of Madonna.

Madonna's manager was good friends with Troy (there were a lot of pics of them hanging out together)...so I always though it was a mutual PR stunt that spiraled way out of control. At the time, Madonna's tour wasn't getting that much press & the singles from the BTW album weren't doing as well as her previous singles (with the exception of BTW). A "feud" at a time when there were a lot of "feuds" among celebs would have been an easy way to get PR for both of them.

Let's go over some common misconceptions within the fanbase :yennefer:

Some are more widely believed than others, but I've heard people say all of these.

- The Venus music video was shot

- Gaga broke her hip during that Scheiße performance

- Gaga "hates" ARTPOP

- Gaga "hates" Joanne

- The Cure is about Sonja - this could be true but she's never said that :bear:

- Gaga shot Babylon and Free Woman videos in Feb/March this year :toofunny:

- Princess Die was supposed to feature Lana Del Rey

Let's add to the list!

And you know these are false how? :triggered:

*(not so funny) Some so called fans believe some really awful stuff about Gaga's past because of twitter/tumblr/etc (not recounting it because of lurkers). Most of it is stuff taken wildly out of context or flat out wrong or has a bit of truth but is mostly wrong. They tend to be younger fans, though, who weren't around when she first broke out so they aren't aware of the real story or how the press covered it. Not saying Gaga's perfect, as she's f*cked up, but not on the level of what these so-called fans sometimes believe.

*Gaga was/is going to release Princess Die. Hahahaaha. It's an amazing, beautiful song but there is no way in h*ll her label would ever let her release the song because of the Princess Diana connection.

*Gaga and DJWS hate each/sued each other/etc. Poor DJWS had to finally snap at some fans on twitter, and the "sued" thing was over some basic contract negotiations from those leaked papers.

*Gaga was literally going to get horns and it wasn't her just talking sh*t.

*Gaga had an affair with Tony Bennett (LOL...I think she'd give poor Tony a heart attack).

The Gaga hates Joanne thing is just bizarre, tho, and fans basing it off random comments about how it didn't "heal" her Dad. At least the ARTPOP thing has some evidence (not much, tho) as Elton said Gaga wasn't satisfied with it or something along those lines.

That there's an "original LG5" that she totally scrapped because Bowie died.

Yes, she wrote 8 songs with RedOne. Spoiler alert, she always writes tons of songs for every album and doesn't end up using them all. Remember she wrote more than 100 songs for ARTPOP, and probably a lot of them were written with RedOne? How come nobody is talking about an original ARTPOP?

Also, we know she began working with Mark Ronson before Bowie died. And I don't see him working on something dance-pop or whatever, it was always going to sound like that. It was also very clear that after ARTPOP, she was trying to get another audience to get interest in her, one that would appreciate her vocals and songwriting, one that wasn't necessarily into her regular music. We got C2C, countless tributes showcasing her musical skills, even with Til it happens to you she was going for something different musically. She didn't just decide to do that when Bowie died.

The truth is, people are just saying this because they were disappointed by Joanne and wanted something dance-pop. People here love Chromatica and I don't see anyone saying she scrapped the "original" LG6 she made with DJWS.

I remember she said that she wrote Bad Romance while watching runways on mute, but then a while ago she said she wrote it in front of an ex lover?

I agree but I remember she talked about a return to "art of darkness" inspired by the countess in AHS. Joanne isn't really this kind of project, maybe the original "Joanne" was meant to be more haunted, ghostly esoteric and oniric but still about her aunt, about healing her family, dealing with her troubles and identity...Like a ritual of resurrection  ("the witching hour" and "frankeinstened" rumors). I think she kept this idea for "Joanne World Tour" interludes:

I think she changed the direction because of Trump and she realized she could unite people and have a positive impact during this troubled times. That's  why she incarnated this "classic christian girl next door in white t-shirt from the deep country who listens to americana". She made something less eccentric than planified in order to speak to another audience, as a reminder of what America is, and that American symbols belongs to all of them. She not only wanted to heal her father, she wanted to heal America.

I can't find the interview but she said something like: " When I wrote this album I thought about this american girl in white t-shirt in the back of the room at my concerts, maybe she had a bad day, maybe she is a mother, nobody knows about her life and I wrote "Joanne" thinking about this girl, and this girl could be me". Joanne is a metaphor for all forgotten americans.

So yes, she writes a lot of songs for every album and it doesn't mean she scraps anything but this time I really think she had a precise idea of the direction of the album and that she changed it, but nothing related to Bowie's death indeed.

That's the lie in which I believe, a new one

She wanted Aura as the lead single. Never confirmed. She said recently that it was supposed to be Sexxx Dreams before Applause.
