I don't get it why you Americans need to register to vote. Is it a logistic problem? Because in my country everyone is able to vote once they turn 18. Is it an only-European thing?

That's one of the things on the progressive agenda, I believe. Automatic voter registration.

Though with how ignorant or misinformed most Americans are, idk how good of an idea that is :rip:

I'm absolutely voting and voting for Biden.

If the Trump Era has taught us anything, it's that who we pick as President doesn't just effect us but it effects the entire world. We need a leader who is committed to human rights and democracy. Not a reality TV star who runs fake universities, blackmails sex workers, and calls dictators his friends.

And it's corrected those of us (like myself) who thought "it doesn't really matter who the president is because senate makes the laws, the courts uphold the laws, etc"

But he proved us wrong :rip: a bad president can bring us to our knees. I don't necessarily mean a conservative, I mean a crooked and deceitful one.

200+ years of democracy totally off the tracks because of one failed business man :toofunny:

They ask here in Florida if you want to be registered, you can say no though.

I am not going to vote because I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq, and everywhere such as our education over here in the U.S. should help South Africa, the Iraq and the Asian countries so we can help build up our futures for our children.

yes. in my state, everything will be done by mail because of the coronavirus. we held our local primary that way a few months ago and everything went very smoothly (and on top of that our voter turnout for the local primary jumped from 34.8 percent in 2016 :selena: to 52.7 percent in 2020). still really bad but a big improvement :selena:

needless to say i will be mailing my ballot out the day i get it (which is no later than october 16th where i live)

I’m voting but I’ll probably write Gaga in for president and my cat for governor. Neither presidential candidate seems super promising to me. And I was fine with our governor until he said K-5 schools can open at 100% capacity because kids aren’t at risk. :saladga:

I have one candidate I want to win our state superintendent position because she’s actually been in education. So if anyone is in NC, I’d like to recommend a candidate.

Looking for a politician to save anything is prety stupid tbh. How about one that believe clinate change is real, healthcare should be affordable, and the rich should pay their fair share? A start.

This is what I mean by saving:

- A candidate that wants to solve climate change and is willing to ignore the fossil fuel industry

- A candidate that puts “health care is a human right” in action and actually implements universal healthcare

- A candidate that will actually make the rich pay their fair share.

So yeah, still looking for that. Easier to find locally, but at the top? Whew.

2024 I guess :huntyga:

I don’t know if it’s the same in Portugal but here in the U.K. you have to register to vote every time you move address, but once you’ve registered once at an address you don’t need to do it again I think

Really? In Portugal your ID card is your voting card and if you change your address in your ID card, your vote is automatically connect to your new voting district so it's not like you need to do anything besides that to be able to vote. It's an automatic process all the way down. It's seems easier that your situation and yet so many people simply don't vote :spin:

I’m not gonna voter shame you to vote for Biden, can I ask that you not write in please? America’s system of counting in mail in ballot votes is garbage, and is already gonna put a strain on the system, which Trump is counting on that system to illegitimately secure a second term. If you’re not gonna take this election seriously, then do it in the least harmful way possible by not requesuting/sending in a ballot, or staying at home.
