Eh, she's like a Lorde to me. Her immense commercial success for her debut was always going to be a one-off. She has a unique edge and sound and I don't see her compromising her artistic growth to maintain commercial success. I'm not sure why My Future was pushed to radio so much by Interscope cause it really isn't a radio-friendly song. That doesn't mean it's a bad song though. I like seeing artists not necessarily feeling tethered to the charts. Lorde really did her own thing for Melodrama. Even Tove Lo had commercial success during her debut as well and did her own thing and has created an incredible discography.

Well said. I never ever expected that billie would become mainstream at all. The fact that she did was amazing but unlike manufactured pop stars, she literally started her career singing in her bedroom with her brother and she is STILL singing in her bedroom with her brother so I'm not worried about her artistically at all, as long as she keeps delivering strong material.

Her debut album is literally still one of the most streamed female albums currently, more than a year after release outstreaming 2020 albums, same with her EP. She’s doing just fine, that song is just a stand-alone single.

This. People forget that her streaming force is great and she is one of the biggest female artist currently. One year old album outstreamed most of the new albums released in 2020... thats something.

She reached a HUGE peak, so it's natural for the decline to start. Have you guys not figured out the cycle yet?

Artist becomes wildly successful > whole world loves them > they get oversaturated and people start to hate them > decline starts > artists stays mildly relevant but never peaks quite the same > resigns to making music they like and believe in over commercial success

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Yeah but not that soon. I think people are just over her depressive songs and her whispering.

Billie's second era is gonna be massive.

dont smile at me counts as an era... it's the better album even though it's an ep.

The Clown

Kind of dissapointing even Gaga fans are dying to see her fall. It's a cruel spectacle, the American Dream, isn't it, monsters? :billie:

Just wait and see how her next era is going to perform. One #6 peaking, radio-unfit droplet-single with an animated MV released during the Covid-19/BLM era is not a sign of her decline just 'cause it didn't serve longevivity.

'WWAFA, WDWG?' was in a league of its own on streaming, so watch out how BE2 performs on that metric specifically. The Hot 100 can be pretty misleading in the streaming era as well.

Nah, it’s a Focus. Don’t count her out yet but they should take this as a warning sign and reevaluate things.

:applause:

She hasn't sacrificed her artistry for charts success and I can't see her doing that anytime soon.
