She lives in Ballarat, not Melbourne, which is under stage 3 lockdown (and not stage 4 lockdown) in which the event she organised is not illegal. In addition she organised masks to be provided for all attendees and stated strict compliance with stage 3 rules was compulsory. This was her Facebook protest. “As some of you may have seen the govt has gone to extreme measures & are using scare tactics through the media to prevent the Melbourne protest...End lockdowns. Stand for human rights. We live in a *free* country.” The goldfields of Ballarat is the birthplace of Australian democracy. I am so sad at what is happening to this country. Think if in the 80s, during the HIV epidemic, the authorities would have acted against gays the same way as they do here. You would have applaud it also? This woman was arrested because she doesnt agree with the people in power and she tried to organize /participate to a peaceful protest that would have followed all social distancing measures.
